John Deere L130 riding lawn tractor will not start what do I do?

I'm assuming the motor will crank over, but not start. Remove the air intake cover & filter off the carburetor air intake. Do you smell gas? Is gas dripping out of the carburetor? If not, spray a couple shots of starting fluid or carburetor cleaner into the carburetor air intake throat. Close the choke & crank the engine. If it starts, & stalls, repeat the process. If it won't stay running, your carburetor float jet is gummed up & needs to be cleaned. Check & clean the spark plug. Does the spark plug fire when the engine is cranked? If no, then you have an ignition problem.

My john Deere turns over but want start

If it's a single cylinder engine, my first guess is the magneto is defective. Other possibilities are defective spark plug or spark plug wire (from magneto to plug). Verify also that the fuse is good.

We have a John Deere Model #303777. We replaced the fuel line, spark plugs. Engine turns but won't start.

It probably needing a good carburetor cleaning.

It test if is a carburetor put a little in the carburetor throat or remove the spark plugs and put a little in each cylinder and replace the plugs and try to start. If starts up and then dies it is your carburetor.

John deere gx345 has no spark at plug what is the cause?

need new coil pack or have short in harness grounding engine from running. check fuel line to carburator. 1. take float bowel off bottom of carb. do not touch float or pin holding float. crank engine over until fuel comes out of carb. If fuel comes out, you don't have fuel problem. put float bowel back on carb. 2. check for spark. take spark plug out of mower. put wire back on plug and place the threads on head [or metal of engine to ground the plug]. crank engine over for a few seconds to see if plug gets spark . [always double check with another spark plug that is good]. [[ Remember!!! you have to have someone sitting on the lawnmower to start. unless you by-pass safety switch [only do this if you understand how the safety switch works. NOT EXPLAINED HERE!!!]] If spark is present, there is no grounding problem. when engine is cool. 3. CHECK COIL PACK. for continuity. When the coil pack gets hot it will stop any juice to the plug. A>Check temp sensor B> Check Safety switches grounding out. C> Check for cut wiring harnes. [loose wires rubbing against pulleys, wires cut by rodents]. Hope this helps.........................GAS

John deere lt155 lawn tractor shuts off when it gets hot while mowing, could this be electrical?

I had a similar problem lasy year.
Try this:
As soon as the machine seems to be stalling, loosen the gas cap.
If the engine continues to run, clean the gas cap vent hole(s).

Scotts by john deere riding mower - 220 hours, 17.5 HP, 42" cut, Briggs & stratton engine -- New Strarter, new battery, good fuel... will turn over but engine will slow down then stop, will not...

Very high likelihood you have fuel line problems. Disconnect primary fuel line from bottom of fuel filter and blow compressed air back up the fuel line to the gas tank. This will clear the line of any trash. Reconnect fuel line to filter. Then remove spark plug and spray a couple of sprays of WD-40 into the cylinder.. Re-install spark plug and then restart. WD-4- will act as a starter fuel and will start the engine for enough rounds to get fuel pump to working to normal run.. Good luck.

My John Deere JS30 self propelled, operate from behind lawnmower does not want to start. I have put in fresh gas fuel. ensured spark plug fired when starting, all to no avail. Appreciate your advice!...

Just guessing but is there a reason you put fresh gas in it. Did it sit a long time with old gas in it?
If you want to see if its a gas problem, take out the spark plug and pour a little gas (teaspoon) in the hole and reinstall the plug and wire. If it tries to run for just for a little while and dies then your problem is something plugging the gas line or in the carb. If gas sat in it for a long period it turns to a green varnish and plugs up the jets in the carb.

John deere 425 mower won't start

The ignition switch module is likely to be the problem, they seem to quit for no good reason. The safety relays and fuses are built into the board that comes with the switch and will most likely fix your problem.

John Deere 445 Garden Tractor, starts immediately,

could be bad gas, but it sounds like a choke problem. did it sit over the winter with less than a half tank of gas in it. try putting some rubbing alcohol in the fuel or draining the tank and disconnecting the gas line so you can drain the gas out of the carb. also check the gap of the spark plug and make sure that is correct. when was the last time there was fresh oil put in. also check the air filter, it could be full of dirt.
