My Goldstar dehumidifer won't do anything. I'm trying to take the back grill off so I can clean filter, blades and whatever. I've removed every screw on the thing and can't the back to seperate. I've read there may be clamps to release but don't see any of those. Do I just take a screw driver and pry the piece of **** apart. Thanks

Tia0418 - I'm sorry you're having such a problem with this. But, taking off the back, won't allow you access to the air intake filter. It's behind the louvers on the front of the unit.

You failed to mention which model Goldstar Dehumidifier you have, but most have the same features. If you remove the bucket and look up in the cavity where the bucket was removed, you should see what looks like a plastic pull handle. That's the handle for the filter frame. Pull that down and the filter and frame will come out. You then can clean the filter, by following the Owner's Manual Instructions.

The clamps that you referred to are just spring type clamps in a "V" shape. Push the top of the "V" together and the back should release from the cabinet. You can "carefully" use a flat bladed screw driver to do this, if necessary.

Hope this helped you further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Hello , I have goldstar dehumidifier model #DH40 . It's freezing from back grill? Can you please give me some solution to it? Thanks for you're help

It sounds like not enough air flow. clean the filter. I would suggest unplugging it and let it set for a day to dry out then replace filter and clean the air path including coils.

I have a goldstar DH40 , just bought it at a yard sale -

Give it a good cleaning before you do anything else. If the fins or filter are dirty, you won't get good service from it. Make sure the drain path is open.

DEHUMIDIFER WONT START

empty the tank, and clean the dust off of the condenser in the front or clean the filter. if it still won't turn on, may have a bad sensor or a siezed compressor.

I noticed today our Goldstar dehumidifier was running, but the back was all frosted up. What does that mean?

That's an indication, that the filter needs to be removed and cleaned.
Turn the unit OFF & unplug it before removing the filter. You can vacuum the filter or if it's really dirty, wash it in warm water and dish washing liquid. Rinse thoroughly and allow to completely dry, before reinstalling. Never operate the unit without the filter installed.

If the coils continue to frost, but not defrost, they also should be cleaned.

I have a Goldstar Dehumidifier, model # GHD30y7 (S No 611TADR26946). It has worked well for a couple seasons. This season it will not stay running. It cycles on but shuts off after a couple minutes. I have...

Kreston, check the humidity level you have it set on. It may be that there is not enough humidity in the air for what you have it set on and it automatically shuts OFF.

Keep in mind, whatever level (percentage) you have it set on, is what it will maintain, not remove.
For example - if you have it set on 65%, that's pretty high level of moisture/humidity. But, it's not how much it's going to remove from the household air. Unless, the humidity level rises above 65%. Then it will only remove enough to maintain 65%.

If you want to remove humidity/moisture, you have to lower the setting below 45 to 50%, Try that and I think you'll meet with success.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

I don't have the manual and need to replace and/or clean the air filter on my Goldstar DH304. Where do I find it on the appliance?

if this is the correct picture - pull out the collection bucket and reach just inside the opening at the top (just at the bottom of the grill in the front) the filter is plastic and pulls straight down. Clean it tin soapy water, dry it, and slide it back it place.

Unit runs but no water in storage tank

Make sure conditions are not too cold or too dry already.
Is the compressor running?
Set the unit to the continuous run setting or the dryest setting
compressor should start.
If compressor runs but the evaporator doesn't get cold the freon has
leaked out.
If compressor doesn't run no matter what you do the board may be bad.
Also the fan must blow air.

Lost suction to drain into hose connector

I've had a similar problem and I was told by Whirlpool that the hose has to run down along the side of the dehumidifier and not straight out. I moved it and things improved; then I moved it again and it got worse. So maybe you moved the hose while cleaning the vent, and moving the position around will help?
