I've gist had the same problem after flashing bios ...
go to BIOS and change the SATA mode to IDE. it worked for me.
original instructions:
also You have to turn OFF (disable) the boot from network. The error your seeing is result of the network boot rom not finding PXE server to boot from. Again, be sure to disable boot from network.
PLUS it seems if only 128 MB is showing as memory then the memory sticks might be damaged and not able to retain information/data to complete the installation process. Best take them out clean it properly & replace & try again. Nothing to do with BIOS!

I have a Compaq Presario Notebook 2100 when I turn-on it appears the following."disk failed and "operating system not found" what i am suppost to do. please help... Thanks a lot

You can go into the Bios by pressing F2 on startup and see if the hdd is detected there or not, you can make the bios default by pressing F9 and then F10.
If this doesnot works you will need the ricovery disc and you will have to boot to windows recovery console and there Use the fixmbr command in the Windows XP Recovery Console to repair the MBR of the startup partition. This should hellp you to fix the problem.

OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND MESSAGE

HI,
This can be an issue with the hard drive..

Go to bios by tapping F10 while the system boots > go to diagnostics and select hdd self test.

If it given an error "No IDE device found" then try reseating the hard drive. i.e. take it out and put it back in.

Otherwise try changing the boot order by going to advance / system configuration > select boot order > select the hdd and pess F6 till it goes to the top. Press F10 to save and exit.

Hope this helps..

Anup

Can't extract files on System Recovery Disc 4 for Compaq Presario model 6350US

At this point, you can try to clean your disk # 4 and see what happen,
or try to make a copy of disk # 4 (if you can copy the disk) and try again.

or

1) Contact your customer support and ask for a new set of disks.(or only # 4)

or

2) Boot your computer with another OS disk (win XP)

or

3) Boot your computer with some utility disk

Compaq presario v5000

Boot into Setup and run the TOOLS / PRIMARY HDD TEST / SHORT TEST.

If it fails, try another HDD.

If OK, verify Boot Order is Floppy, CD-ROM, HDD. Exit Setup.

Print Table 1 Low Level Format instructions from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/106419

Boot with a DOS disk that contains Debug. Run the Table 1 script. Turn V5000 Off.

Boot with the HP Operating System CD. XP install should now proceed normally.

Good luck.

Compaq presario not working

This generally indicates hard drive failure. Try reinstalling your operating system, if you have any problems during or after the install, then the hard drive will need to be replaced.
