Providing the external hard drive is attached to the pc.

go to my computer, to find the drive letter of the hard drive. ie drive (E)

go to start, run, and type in cmd

a black DOS screen will appear.

from here you enter

format <drive letter (ie E)> "format e:" with out the " 's

it will say all data on this drive will be lost

do you wish to continue Y or N

hit Y, and the drive will be formatted.

Once complete it will ask for a drive name or press enter to continue.

Hope this helps

be safe

At the command line type: format f:
If you want to format it fat32 type: format f: /fs:fat32

How to move items from internal memory to sd card

greetings!

please remember the purpose of having a external micro sd memory in a tablet is mainly for media/ work / school purposes. most your going to be able to put on the cards is information relative to what i just told you and application that you have download from your APPLICATION STORE depends on the OS ( operating system you have on your tablet will determine how you can move them from your tablets internal memory to the tablets external sd card memory

here is a bing search on how to move items from internal memory to external for both tablets and phone. i suggest you watch multiple videos and refine your search based upon your OS and continue to search.

I have installed a sd 32gb for additional storage and still not able to download anything. how can this be fixed

look in the settings for memory usage . There will be a setting to download to external memory or an option to move apps to external memory rather than internal memory .

Internal memory running out despite internal SD card nearly empty.

You might try reformatting the SD card with a card reader connected to your PC. Also, your tablet has it's own memory limit, if you are saving stuff on the tablet memory instead of the external memory card you might be pushing into the tablet's limits. Get a handle of your memory limits by downloading ES File Explorer if you have an Android tablet to navigate internal and external memory.

How to save video onto sd card

In the settings of the camera app it should have something called 'default save location' or 'Memory in use' set it to "Ext. SD" card. Most tablets have an internal SD so it is important that you select EXT SD card (external SD card).
If you have already found that setting, and 'Ext SD card' is not listed as an option, you need to format that SD in the tablet itself so it builds the folders it needs. Put it into a PC first though to copy off anything you need because formatting it will delete all data.

How do you restor you cruz r101 to factory default

The easiest way to restore the Cruz Reader to factory defaults is to update to the newest firmware which can be downloaded from here. The instructions for doing the upgrade are also explained on the link above.

This will revert everything back to original condition leaving any information on the internal and external memory cards intact. If you are looking to clear those as well you can do so by formatting the cards by going to Settings->Storage (might say SD card)->Unmount->Format. You can also take the cards out and put them in your computer and use the computer to format them.

The process is pretty of upgrading the firmware is pretty simple even though it might be intimidating. Let me know if you have any more questions

Hope this helps
