Brand new Viking 3048SS hood - fan switch not working

Followed instruction & installed brand new Viking 3048SS range hood. All switches work except fan switch. When plugged fan directly to outlet, it worked. The exterior fan was installed on roof with 10in duct work to hood. Called Viking. Authorized Viking tech came to inspect and suggested installation is incorrect. (charged about $200 for a 5min inspection!) Hired an electrican to re-install. Same problem. Suggested switch is bad. Need help here!

Just had an electrician look at our VWH3048 range hood. I had turned on fan and it was not working. Lights were all working. Tested motor on separate outlet and it works. He popped out the one inch fan rocker switch and tested it and it was good. He could not get a test on the wires that had been connected to the switch. Process of elimination seemed to put the problem onto the part that controls the motor fan speed. He ran out of time and was to come back and remove that other part since it was going to be more than a quick pop out. At my behest he plugged everything back in and I asked that he make sure that switch was really plugged in well to those tow wires. He then turned everything back on. Out of curiosity, I flipped the switch. The fan and the motor speed control both work. This is an electrician friend and was free. For now we do not need a part. If it happens again, we will check for othr loose wires. This range hood, also, had the capacitor replaced a year ago and that was a $7.00 item. Viking wanted to sell me a new motor.

Above I was referring to those two wires that look blue and orange/pink.

Think i would call viking back and ask for refund of inspection fee and go by the bad switch scenerio the electrician said new fan that would be considered flaws in workmanship in most states dont know where you are located but pretty much same anywhere most inspectors for these companies always try to blame problems off on installers hold your ground and make them fix it and refund that" inspection " fee I've been doing electrical work for several (20+) years it takes longer than 5 minutes to troubleshoot something like that good luck

I have a viking range hood and the blower has stopped working. the motor hums when the switch is on but no longer runs the exhaust fan. I plugged it directly in to test if the switch was the issue and it...

Had same problem with the Viking PV300001. Motor would hum but did not spin. Fixed it by changing the 5uf capacitor, which required removing the motor/fan assembly (loosen one wingnut + two barrel nuts)

Takes forever for my oven to preheat to 400*. 25 minutes or so. Oven is brand new.

A brand new oven should work. You should not tinker with a brand new oven. A brand new oven that is malfunctioning is probably under warranty and should be repaired under that warranty.

Viking is the Rolls Royce of kitchen equipment. Call your installer or builder or Viking for service for your brand new oven.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

Fan stays on long after oven is shut off in brand new viking daul fuel range. It's been on now for 45 minutes. All controls are on OFF.

loads of ovens do this. It's a pain, especially if you eat in the kitchen. If you switch the appliance off and on at the wall it usually stops it. Why the fan stays on, god knows. pointless.

30" viking downdraft goes up & down fan runs and will not responed when pushing on touch panel

After 11 years of use, the same problem just happen a few days ago - fan keeps running, doesn't respond to the on/off switch. Also cannot reset filter alert. As far as I can tell the entire switch panel isn't working. Or worse, shorted out. Might have to replace the ribbon and some switches.
For example the switches can be found at AllVikingParts.com For example --> http://www.allvikingparts.com/Button_Switch_Assy_p/pv300182.htm
There's a another thread on this forum: http://www.fixya.com/support/t410261-viking_downdraft_ventilator_electrical
I'll post the exact solution as soon as I have it figured out completely.

Fan switch not work - Viking 3048SS brand new range hood

There is the on off switch and the blower control that controls the speed of the fan. It is more than likley the blower control that would need replaced.

There could also be a wire disconnected in the hood.
