your motors drive brushes need replaced

so look to use the model number in EBAY

i used the search string
'xlm 1400 brushes'
and they are quite easy to replace..

it may do a whole wash cycle and count down etc just wont spin or move the drum with heavy water laden clothes

goes eeeeeeeheheeheh but no drum rotate

so
you can drain the machine only
lay the machine down with the soap drawer away from the ground
then it wont leak
two screws and one power clip removes the brushes
from the main motor {the one with the belt that drives the drum}
their are two brushes one each side
so 4 screws
and replace both ..
so...

let us know the size of the brushes left

they should be like new 2.5" - 3" long
if they are less then 1.5" replace them

this is the issue

the main advice is not to use it just now
till you check the motor brushes

as this type of fault can further damage the motor

so .. dont use it till you check / replace the brushes as the intermittent contacting will damage the motors stator {the bit the brushes make contact with}

Try unplugging it for little and then see if that will reset it

I would take the back off and look for a small 5mm pipe leading upwards from the base of the drum and take it off and blow gently into it you should hear a click and one when you release the air if so then the place where you took the pipe from is blocked clean it out with a pipe cleaner or metal rod and replace the pipe as sometimes this pipe gets blocked with soap goo preventing the water sensor from doing its job eric

siemens xlm 1400 washing machine fills with water but wont wash

Probably needs the filter cleaning.
Remove lower rear panel.
Remove large black hose onto drum.
Remove and clean filter inside hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for obstruction here and in the pump itself.

1. Test the lid switch
   
2. Test the timer control
   
3. Test the centrifugal switch
   
4. Test the water level switch
   
5. Inspect the motor coupler
   
6. Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
   
7. Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
   
8. Test the motor
   
9. Inspect the pulley
   
10. Test the transmission.

The manual says that it means there's water in the base pan because the apliance is leaking and you should callCustomer Service.

I cleaned the filter and then put the machine onto its Empty cycle. After that it worked.

If water is being dispensed from both sides of the detergent tray, dismantle washing machine and remove top plate of the detergent tray and clean thoroughly. Water overflows from both sides during the rinse cycle to add softener to the rinse. On our washing machine it was blocked. During the service it was changed but can be washed out to solve problem.

I hae a siemens XLM 1200. The clothes are not smelling clean, they smell of stale water.
