Hi
There maybe some problem with your TVs resolution. ps3 outputs full hd high resolution video(1080p) through its HDMI. May be your TV is not supporting that resolution. Connect ps3's component video out to your TV's component video input and then try. if it ask for any resolution selection. select 720p or 1080i, above that resolution your TV will not support. Your tv is hd ready one, not full hd. ps3 's HDMI out is full hd (1080p).
or try this
Connect your ps3 to any full hd tv and then goto video setup of ps3. change resolution to 1080i (down scaling ). then connect to your TV via HDMI. surly u will get the video.
ok

Thanks so much! This fixed it. I plugged my ps3 into my old TV, changed the resolution settings there, and when I plugged it to the Hitachi Projection HDTV HDMI input, it worked! Thanks again. My husband was freaking out. We just bought the new UFC game and he couldn't get it to work. You saved the day, and my sanity!

How do i get my hdmi to work for my ps3 system

Note: How to reset video output settings
If you are attempting to change to an HDMI cable from a different video cable or if the video output settings do not match those required for the display in use, the screen may stay black. If the screen stays black for more than 30 seconds, you may need to reset the video output settings of the PS3.

To reset video output settings:

  1. Turn the PS3 system off by holding the Power button on the front of the console till you see the power light turn red.
  2. Then hold the power button on the front of the console for at least five seconds until you hear a second beep to turn the system on again. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

Minimum Requirements

  • PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system
  • SIXAXISTM wireless controller (and USB cable)
  • AC power cord
  • HDMI cable1 (sold separately)
  • TV or display monitor with HDMI port and capable of displaying picture in HD resolution
  • Updated system software installed on your PS3
Visit PS3 System Software Update to download and install the most recent version.
  • TV "Input" or "Video" channel for the HDMI port
You need to know the TV "Input" or "Video" channel for the HDMI port on your TV. For instance, if your TV has multiple "Input" or "Video" channels, (i.e., "Input 1", "Input 2", "Input 3", etc.), you will need to toggle through each "Input" channel on your TV until you find the correct channel that displays the HDMI picture. This is important to remember, especially if you do not see the HDMI picture after you connect the cable and configure the PS3 settings. Please refer to the TV instruction manual for more information.

How do I connect my PS3 to my sanyo dp50747 in hdmi? I have everything hooked up correctly, but its not coming up on the TV. What do I do?????

If you see a no signal message, then it means that the signal output format of the PS3 does not match . It happens if you have previous used it on another tv and now connected it to a different tv. To resolve this, turn off the PS3 . Press and hold the power button on the PS3 till you hear three BEEPS. The PS3 should automatically detect the tv's resolution and the initial setup screen should appear. After that you should just follow on-screen instructions to set it up.

Hi our PS3 has no sound or picture. It does have the green power light on.

What is probably happening, is your PS3 is set for the wrong type of output. If you are using an HDMI cord, try switching to the AV cables that came with your PS3, and set your TV at the appropriate input to correspond with the AV hookups, and see if the picture works then.
If you are using the AV cables, it may have been set to HDMI accidentally. You need to use an HDMI cord, and hook the PS3 up to an HDMI compatible TV or monitor, and select the HDMI input. Once you get the picture working, go to Settings>Display Settings and set the display you wish to use.

When my son plays his PS3 after a while the screen goes blank and the message: check signal cable appears. His PS3 is connected to tv with an HDMi cable and the cable that fits into the AV with the three...

Try these steps:

1. Before resetting cables, make sure PS3 is turned off using the main power switch on the back.
2. Unplug the power cord of the PS3 and TV from the wall socket.
3. Connect HDMI cable to HDMI Out on back of PS3
4. Connect HDMI cable to HDMI Input port of the TV
5. Plug the PS3 and TV back in to the wall socket
6. Turn the main power switch on the back of the PS3 on.
7. While the PS3 in standby mode(red light on) hold down the on/off button on front of system until the system goes into standby mode again. (So the light cycle would go red light-green light-then back to red. This will ensure you held down long enough to reset video output settings.
8. Turn on the PS3 and once the system finishes powering up, the video output settings will automatically reset.

No picture when hooking component through receiver. Get sound but no picture. Tried to put ps3 in input 1, 2 and 3. Tried multiple cables as well

with Denon you have to go into the menu and "assign" the inputs.

You have to select if you are using HDMI, s-video composite etc.

If your unit has upconverting remember that it will upconvert a s-video signal to HDMI but not the other way around.

HDMI is a digital signal composite, s-video etc are analog therefore you could not use the HDMI output from your PS3 but then use the red, blue green composite outputs from your receiver to run to your tv.

Hello,

Adjust the system's audio output settings. These settings are mainly used when the system is connected to audio devices that support digital audio output, such as AV amplifiers (receivers) for home entertainment systems.
1.
Confirm the formats supported by your audio device.
Settings vary depending on supported formats. For details, refer to the instructions supplied with the audio device.
2.
Select in_soundset.gif (Sound Settings) under in_setting.gif (Settings) in the home menu.
3.
Select [Audio Output Settings].
4.
Select the input connector on the audio device. Channel numbers and audio formats that are supported vary depending on the connector in use.
soundoutput001.jpg Input connectors on the TV or AV amplifier (receiver) PS3™ system output connectors Channels that can be used for output 2 Ch. 5.1 Ch. 7.1 Ch. Select audio output formats.
Select all output formats that are supported by the audio device in use. If [Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI] is selected in step 4, the screen for selecting audio output formats will not be displayed. If [HDMI] is selected, you can also select to automatically set the audio output format. (In this case, the HDMI device must be turned on.)
soundoutput003.jpg 6.
Check your settings.
You can go back to the previous screen and revise the settings by pressing the in_left_key.gif button.
soundoutput002.jpg 7.
Save your settings.
The audio output settings are saved on the system.
Hints
  • [Linear PCM 2 Ch.] audio is set to be output from all output connectors by default. If you change the audio output settings, audio will be output only from the connectors that were set.
  • If you change the audio output settings, the system will no longer be able to output audio from multiple output connectors at the same time. For example, if your system is connected to a TV via an HDMI cable and to an audio device via a digital optical cable and you switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings], audio will no longer be output from the TV. To output audio from the TV, switch the setting to [HDMI], or select in_setting.gif (Settings) > in_soundset.gif (Sound Settings) > [Audio Multi-Output] and set the option to [On].
  • If you select [Linear PCM 2 Ch. 88.2 kHz] or [Linear PCM 2 Ch. 176.4 kHz] in step 5, sound may be intermittent or may not be emitted from some audio devices.
  • When using an HDMI cable, only [Linear PCM 2 Ch.] audio will be output from PlayStation®2 and PlayStation® format software. To output Dolby Digital or DTS audio, you must connect the PS3™ system and the audio device using a digital optical cable and switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings].
  • If a device that is not compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard is connected to the system using an HDMI cable, video and/or audio cannot be output from the system.

Hope it helped.

Ps3 has no video

I would first try changing the inputs if there is an HDMI cable connected the PS3 will detect it and change the output to HDMI. Make sure when you connect any HDMI cables that the power is off on ALL Units that are using HDMI. Connect the cables then power up all units. Change TV and Receiver or Amp to correct HDMI Inputs. On the PS3 go to Display Settings over to the left of the Crossbar. Select output settings and select HDMI and everything after select AUTOMATIC! Then Set your Audio (Also use Auto) and Save by pressing X.  Good Luck!

HDMI green screen

1-HDMI is available in several versions. The PLAYSTATION 3 is compatible with HDMI version 1.3 or higher, which will take full advantage of Blu-ray Disc™ high-definition video. There are also "Type A" and "Type B" connectors. The PLAYSTATION 3 uses the 19-pin Type A connector, which will allow resolutions up to 1080p.
The HDMI cable is not included with the PLAYSTATION 3. If you are using an HDMI to DVI converter, you may wish to remove this adaptor.

2- The resolution output (i.e., picture quality) of the PLAYSTATION 3 will depend on three factors:
The type of cable used and the inputs available on the TV or display monitor.
The maximum resolution the TV or display monitor can support. The PLAYSTATION 3 can output two types of resolution: HD and SD. Refer to the TV or display monitor's owner's manual to check which video modes are supported.
The maximum resolution programmed into the source material (movie or game). Refer to the software packaging for information on maximum resolution details or contact the publisher directly.

3- Try connecting with the supplied AV Cable instead of the HDMI to see if you can get a successful installation. This will help determine where the problem may be with your particular HMDI setup and/or equipment.

4- Disconnect any coaxial cables at the point closest to the television. Signals sent through coaxial cables may cause interference with the sound and picture outputted from the PLAYSTATION 3 which results in buzzing and humming noises from your display and speakers.

Unusable signal prompt on video input

be sure to cycle thru the input selections-- either w/Remote (input button), or channel +/- on the panel. my truflat 26" hd set has side/front/video1 video2 inputs, yours may have more or less. also, be sure you've plugged into an INPUT set, not an OUTPUT set. Does sound work otherwise on this set? If not, maybe interal speakers (menu setting) is set to off/not checked.

And on your PS3--goto the settings menu, sound outputs, make sure you select A/V connector and analog sound. The ps3 cable can become sloppy too, wiggle/check/reseat or try another cabe (usually video is touchy more than the sound though)

If you KNOW you've got the right input selected and the PS3 is setup properly, do you have another device with audio output to test on the TV? a notebook computer, walkman, cd player--anything that has rca outputs for sound--quick swap the cables to the new 'test' device-- if sound is OK with test device, either PS3 setting or cable is bad/wrong. if no sound from test device on TV either the tv is not using proper inputs, or is damaged, or the test device is not properly configured. If you have another input receiving device to test the ps3 output sound, like the LINE INPUT on a notebook computer, or a boombox with Aux inputs, test the PS3 sound output too.

PS3 no longer communicating with TV

All: Try this -

P
erform the following steps to reset the Video Output Settings.
  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the [HDMI OUT] port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the [HDMI Input] port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn ON the PLAYSTATION 3 and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor). [If resetting does not auto-detect your HDTV, see next step below.]
NOTE: As of system software update version 1.60, the PLAYSTATION 3can automatically detect an HDMI connection to a TV. If the PLAYSTATION 3 is turned on with an HDMI cable connected, the screen for switching video output settings will be displayed automatically. (Does not function unless the TV that is connected by the HDMI cable is turned on.)

As of version 1.80 of the system update for the PLAYSTATION 3, the PLAYSTATION 3 can upscale the video content of PlayStation® format software, PlayStation®2 format software, and DVDs to HD resolution.

If Resetting the Video Output Setting Did NOT Detect Your HDTV Automatically (Certain TV's Only)
With certain televisions, the PLAYSTATION 3 may not automatically detect the HDMI source (TV) which it is plugged into, even after resetting the Video Output Setting (as described above).

If resetting the Video Output Setting did not work, you may need to follow these steps to manually locate the HDMI source:

1. Connect both the AV Cable and the HDMI cable from the PLAYSTATION 3 to the corresponding (AV and HDMI) ports on your TV. 2. Proceed with resetting the Video Output Setting on the PLAYSTATION 3 again. (Follow these steps, then continue to step 3 below.)
3. Turn the TV channel to the corresponding "Input" or "Video" channel for the AV Cable connection.
4. Manually change the Video Output Settings to HDMI. (Follow these steps, then continue to step 5 below.)
5. Now switch the "Input" or "Video" channel on the TV for the HDMI port the PLAYSTATION 3 is currently plugged into.
6. Accept the display settings for HDMI before the timer runs out (30 seconds). Highlight "Yes" and press the X button.
7. You can now disconnect AV Cable from the PLAYSTATION 3 and the TV, as it is no longer needed.
