Thermal Fuse

Item #2986 (OEM Part)
$10.70

Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.

No power to dryer but have power at house...is there a reset button?

Check the circuit breaker in your housepanel. If it is tripped, resetting it will restore power BUT usually there is a reason for the breaker to trip. There may be an electrical problem with the dryer either an overload condition or a short circuit so check it's operation to be safe. If the breaker won't reset, unplug the dryer. If the breaker resets, then you have a problem in the dryer. if it still won't reset, then you have a problem in the wiring to the dryer outlet.

Dryer Won't Start

Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Dryer won't start.

Would first check the Breaker panel Breaker and see if it is tripped. Try resetting, if it trips out immediately would call an electrician.

Hello mdonettaYou said,
Dryer shut off towels were not yet dry, turned dial to restart dryer acts as if it isn't getting power I closed door and pushed start button. Nothing! Checked breakers and power cord at outlet all checked okay. Any ideas.

yes, try unplugging the power cord or turning off the breaker for 5 minutes. Either will due. Some times the system needs to be reset!
If this does not work there are internal fuses that can be replaced!

Let me know how it goes!

Dryer will not start. .

if you got proper voltage to the machine, and the door latch is closing next step is to ck thermos and heater. TURN OFF POWER, remove 2 5/16 screws from bottom panel and the heater plate is located on back wall left side. 2 5/16 screws also remove this assy from rear wall (makes it easier to troubleshoot), both thermos o that plate should have continuity, as well as the heater coil itself, any one not showing cont. is the problem(sometimes the wire itself just burns off the heater terminal itself.

Won't turn on

First check voltage and breaker,(this is a big one)
next, if you have power to the appliance (120 gas dryer or 240 electric) then the door switch is probaly broken.

lastly, perhaps a thermal fuse located on blower vent. goodluck
