To find the correct replacement baking element for your GE Rapid Clean II J55BF-1 wall mount oven, you can try the following steps:
Locate the model and serial number of your oven. This information is usually found on a label on the inside of the oven door or on the back of the oven.
Visit the GE Appliances website or use an online appliance parts retailer to search for the part using your oven model number.
Look for the baking element part number in the oven's user manual or service manual. These manuals may be available online or from the manufacturer.
If you are still having trouble finding the correct part number, consider contacting the manufacturer's customer service department for assistance.
Once you have the correct part number, you can order the replacement baking element and follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation.
The bake element has gone bad. They can visually look fine but still be bad. To check and replace that element you will unfortunately need to kill the power and remove it from the wall. Remove the back cover. Check for a low resistance (around 16 ohms) across the bake element. If the resistance is high the element is bad. Google the make and model for a replacement element.
Most double wall ovens are technically two separate oven boxes. The lower oven box has its bake, boil elements, high limit thermostat and ofcourse its own oven sensor. If the lower oven box boil is working good and less heat on bake feature may suggest that the bake element is burned out and only getting preheated with boil element. Just a suggestion here
With out a model number I was unable to look up any specific information.
First I would look for a thermo fuse on the back side. If you model has one it may be bad.
If it's a older oven with a mechanical clock make sure the clock is not set to timed bake.
The control switch may be bad on it. If there are 2 elements on the top, they both are not bad at the same time.Check to see if the wires have not burned off the control switch first. Check to see if your breakers are O.K. Turn them both(maybe 3) off and then reset.
