SOURCE: how to thread the bobbin on a singer simple sewing machine

Drop-in bobbin: Note: thread must change direction when entering bobbin shuttle notch. Usually bobbin will turn counter-clockwise when threaded properly.

1. hold bobbin so that the tail of thread is facing to left.
2. drop bobbin into bobbin shuttle.
3. pull thread toward you.
4. guide thread into notch and pull to left so that slot engages thread.
5. pull thread diagonally across shuttle toward back of machine.
6. draw bobbin thread up through needle plate with threaded needle.

How to wind a bobbin singer merrit 3130

To wind a bobbin on the 3130, first raise the presser foot and bring the needle to the highest point in its travel cycle. Next hold the outside of the hand wheel with one hand. While holding the outside of the hand wheel, turn the knob inside the hand wheel towards yourself (counter-clockwise if you face the right side of the sewing machine). Make sure that the spool of thread is on the spool pin with the spool's thread retaining notch to the right. Put the appropriate spool holder on the spool pin. Snap the thread into the thread guide in to the left of the spool holder. Lift the top cover to expose the bobbin winding mechanism. Snap the thread into the bobbin winder tension disc by wrapping it around the front of the disc and then bringing it back towards the bobbin winding spindle. The bobbin winder tension disc is to the left of the top cover. Put the thread through the hole in the bobbin from the center of the bobbin. Keep the hole up and put the bobbin on the spindle. Push the spindle to the right. Hold the thread above the bobbin and start the machine. After a few rotations, you can let go and cut this part of thread. Restart the sewing machine and let it finish winding the bobbin. Once the bobbin is full, move the spindle to the left and remove the bobbin from the spindle. Cut the spool thread to release the bobbin to put it in the bobbin case. Hold the hand wheel and turn the inner knob away from yourself.

Singer has most of their manuals available here: https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to the Merrit 3130 manual is https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/fl_attachment/Singer-Website-Library/outdated_product/SINGER_244_288_588_875_972_974_1195_3130_3140_3145_and_3150_Sewing_Machines.pdf .See page 23 (page 25 of the PDF) for the pictures for winding a bobbin.

I hope this helps.

Why can I not reach anyone on telephone 888-6565869

It doesn't appear that that number is working anymore. If you are trying to reach Singer, try calling their general support line, here: 1-800-474-6437, or, try contacting a local sewing machine store.

How do I thread a Singer 3014

You can buy a copy of the manual. Ebay has one just now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SINGER-SEWING-MACHINE-OWNERS-MANUAL-MODEL-3014-REPRINT-/380168853967

If you enter the model number and make into google, you will find other sources for manuals as well. Most Singers are not hard to thread, but some of the older ones have a few quirks. Get a manual so you can make sure you've got it right.

Sewing machine basics are whenever you have thread balling up, you stop, clean all lint from around the bobbin case and feed dogs, check all the guides to make sure none have any damage, put in a new needle, in case the old one has a small burr or other damage, and rethread the machine. Then turn the hand wheel slowly and watch the thread move, to see if it's catching anywhere.

Also check the upper thread tension, because if it is too tight or too loose it can cause a lot of problems. And lint buildup around the bobbin is often the cause of bobbin problems.

I have loaded my Singer 626 sewing machine bobbin properly, and when I try to bring the lower thread up by turning the wheel, nothing comes up. I do hold the upper thread taunt, so it can 'grab

Make sure your needle is correct for the machine and make sure it is fully inserted and undamaged.

you just hold onto the thread... you don't need to hold it taut.

Singer 4423, timing out, what line up with what

I don't think it's a major timing issue, so don't panic. Take a look at your selected stitch pattern selector and set for straight stitch, and set Tension at 3-4. Width: 4. Length: 4. Make sure presser foot Down when you rethread machine so the tesion disks open up to locate thread. Always hold thread taut when "feeling" for tension slot. Insert new needle. Needle goes all the way up into needle clamp as far as it can possibly go, FLAT side needle toward needle bar and more rounded side needle facing you. Leave 6" tail. Hold thread toward you as you turn hand wheel toward you so needle can make a loop with bobbin thread. Make sure bobbin thread isn't hanging down on or across bobbin! Make sure thread in bobbin has wound evenly - good quality thread ideal! Clean bobbin area and feed dogs for broken, loose threads and lint. Always use needles appropriate size for weight of fabric. I suggest walking away from machine, taking deep, cleansing breadth, humming a favorite tune, then doing above and see how it goes! Soon your machine will be humming happily along with you. Hope these suggestions help. Jimmy

How do you adjust the bobbin

Hello

Set the tension on the sewing machine for the weight of the material you want to sew. The tension setting shows in the stitch on the material. Use the chart on the machine that matches types of stitches with suggested material tensions. An example of this is, the stitch to sew jean material is different than the stitch to sew silk.

Take the bobbin and wind the thread around it. Make sure the bobbin is empty and don't fill it too full of thread. A bobbin filled too full won't stay tightly spun.

Thread the string evenly on the bobbin. Move the thread back and forth evenly and in layers that are level. Many Singer sewing machines have a bobbin winder on the top of the sewing machine, and the consistency of how it threads can save you frustration later.

Find the hole on the bobbin that is located near the inside spindle of the bobbin. Take the thread sitting on the sewing machines spool and insert the thread in the hole from inside the bobbin to the outside. Set the threaded bobbin on the spool designated for spinning on the top of the sewing machine for some Singers.

Turn the side drive wheel slowly until the threaded bobbin has a layer or two of thread on it. Push down on the drive peddle and fill the bobbin, but don't thread it to the very edge. If the bobbin is too full the thread will release erratically. Cut the thread from the spool.

Drop the bobbin into the bobbin case under the area where the needle sews the material. Close the case and turn by hand the side wheel drive until the bobbin threads into the sewing machine. You can tell when the bobbin is threaded by the tiny piece of thread that juts out of the bobbin case where the needle goes up and down.

Grab the thread with your fingers and pull it out approximately 4 inches. Your bobbin is now spun and threaded.

I can pull the thread from the spool out

I solved this problem by buying a new Apollo Singer bobbin. It was $12.00 at a local sewing machine store. This bobbin is everywhere, since it goes with about 30 Singer sewing machine models.

I had to do a little adjusting to the new bobbin. 1/3 of a turn loosening the tiny screws.
