my ipod classic on the face it's showing a picture to plug it into the wall and when i do it's still not charging so what should i do or is it the battery will someone please help me out.
This happens quite often but does not necessarily mean that your iPod needs service.
Launch itunes first, (not by plugging in ipod and allowing to launch automatically.) Then, plug in ipod. After you see it load into itunes, you can use the ipod restore function. You'll lose your music but you it will restore all of it after it resets.
I'm not sure which version you have, but most iPods will respond once they have been reset. Follow this link to the Apple site with instructions for resetting your particular iPod. Good luck! http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
You must have a 3rd or 4th gen Ipod. It should not do this with a reset. If you reformat it through Itune , then it will. The plug into a power outlet means it is trying to reformat. If it will not, your hard drive is corupted or logic board. If it is the hard drive and you can get it to show on your computer, you can go to your disc utilities and erase the hard drive by writing zeros. then connect to Itunes and reformate. Plug into a power wall charger and it should complete. You need a good charge in your battery. If your battery is not charging or needs to charge , that will stop it from completing a reformat. I hope this helps.
The wall adapter logo means the ipod need connecting to an external power scource to complete the restart procedure. Once this is done it will reset to the facory settings.
It seems that you just did a fimware update. It wants you to plug it into a wall charger. If you don't have one, you can just borrow one off your firend. After you plug it in, it will do its thing and in about 3 minuites your finished. It will not charge through USB/ FireWire. I have tried it many times and failed.
