If you have activated and validated windows then you might try to update the drivers through windows update for the sound devices. If this does not work go to Start Menu/ All Programs/ Run - type without quotation marks "msinfo32" and press enter or click OK. This will give you the required information about installed hardware. After you have this information you will have the best luck finding the correct version of drivers at the manufacturers web site for the computer or motherboard. If all else fails the you can use a program like "SIW" or something similar to find the name of the sound device and this will help to locate the correct driver trough alternative web sites. It will be listed usuallly for something like Realtek, Creative, Soundblaster, AC97....etc.....
