Although the unit powers up when the key is inserted, the Start button doesn't do anything. Can just the start button be replaced or does that require the whole console to be replaced?

I have 2001 mercury courage replace alternator 2wks ago ran great. Now today will not start. Tried to start and it would click when I turned key now won't do anything doesn't have any power....

Could quite possibly be you have a bad starter. I would have it tested. Could also be a bad battery. If, when jumping it, you used too high of a voltage, could have shorted out a wire somewhere

The unit will not power up or down when I start the car. I have to manually push the on/off button. (it is hard wired into the car system) Any Ideas?

This is a portable unit. Who hardwired it into your vehicle? Hardwiring only charges the battery, it doesn't have anything to do with on/off features. You'll have to manually power it up or down when leaving the vehicle.

How do I test the starter switch on a 2001 Honda Shadow 750 ACE Deluxe

Maybe I am missing somethtg here ... you press the start switch and one of 2 things happens - the bike starts or it doesn't. If it does, your start switch is definitely good. If it doesn't ... well there are a couple things to consider. Are you in gear? Will not start in gear unless the clutch is pulled in. But, if the clutch is pulled in and you are in gear and the side stand is down, it will not start. So, if you move the side stand up, you are in gear and you have the clutch pulled in and it doesn't start ... well ... could be the key is not on (silly but true) and/or the 'kill switch" may be in the off position causing your bike to not start. If the clutch is pulled in, the side stand is up and you are in neutral and the kill switch is in the run position and the key is on - (or some other very similar arrangement as I have described) your Shadow should start. Nothing here has ruled out a bad switch nor, for that matter, a good switch.

You bike will still not start - so what else to look at/for. How is the battery? Have you checked it recently? Your battery MIGHT still be the original in which case I would be suspect of it being 10 years old. Maybe you or a previous owner has replaced it ... still, have you checked it? You will find it under the seat.

Battery good and still will not start? Find the start solenoid. With a volt meter, measure the voltage at each of the large terminals. One shold be 12 volts (battery side) the other should be zero volts (starter side). You will check the smaller terminals later . Key Off? No volts on smaller terms. With everything in a normal start condition (key on, bike in neutral, kill switch in run position), measure the voiltage on the other large terminal on the start solenoid. Should be zero. Press the start button. Do you get voltage? No voltage = the solenoid is either not receiving power to energise or it is energised but not making connection.

What happens is when you turn on the key you supply power to potentially anything that can be turned on. When you press the start button, you should be powering the start solenoid (an electric operated switch) That should allow power to flow to the starter and start the bike. If all that is happening, I would suspect the starter. If everything is OK but it doesn't start, suspect the solenoid and lastly ... the switch. I think I would consider jumping power directly to the starter to see if that actually runs before looking at the switch. The actual start switch is pretty tuff compared to other parts of the system.

Let me know what happens ... good luck. I think you will find something simple.

Device could not start

what device? is *********** board won't start? Or a hardware doesn't start like ram or your printer
If the problem is your motherboard check all your hardwares and connectors like this:
  1. If the motherboard won't start if you click the power button check the LED(the small light bulb on your motherboard) if its glowing. If not, check the connector of your power supply or check the power supply if its working by looking its fan if revolving.
  2. If you push the button and there's a sign of power but didn't start up that will appear on your screen check the connection of your monitor screen to your desktop computer. If it's connected, remove your RAM from the motherboard and insert it to another memory slot to check if it's broken.
  3. Last, if you push the power button and here 1 short beep but the boot screen didn't appeared from your screen check your graphic card. Remove the graphic card and re-insert it again to its graphic card slot and plug in your monitor connector to it. If it still remain that way, buy a new graphic card.

Trying to reboot my hp compaq nc6320 and i cant figure it out, how do i even get the process started

Hello and welcome to FixYa,

Rebooting is simply pressing the power key to turn the computer off.

Wait one minute,

press the start button again and let the computer completely power up.

If you would like to try to 'reset' the computer;

Unplug the computer from the wall,

turn computer over and take out the battery.

Press the power button for one full minute.

Put the battery back in, then plug in the power cord (in that order).

Press power button again and let computer start up completely.

Let me know how this worked out for you. If my solution helped you, please rate this solution!
It doesn't cost anything and only takes a second, but it is greatly appreciated.
