Amana fridge. french door ice maker now seems to freeze overflow of water so i'm using hair dryer frequently to remove the clog. why is this starting

Sounds like a clogged drain. Remove food, remove bins and shelves. Remove ice maker if freezer is in the bottom. Remove back panel. .melt ice on drain pan and run hot water into drain.

Hi Jan, the problem is a bad ice maker water valve. Pull the refrigerator out and look for the plastic water line that's going to the tube that's freezing. Follow that tube to the faulty water valve. The problem is, its leaking water slowly to the ice maker and it freezes up . Easy fix : Good luck

try this ,in the back of freezer there is a tube that feeds ice maker sometimes it freezes up aim a hair dryer at the tube for 5 to 10 mins ,not to close or it will melt

if you put a new water valve on the fridge then you either have a bad ice maker or the line is frozen where the water fills the ice maker,a bad water valve will make the line freeze,water keeps dripping through the valve and freezes the fill line behind the ice maker cup,you can remove the ice maker and check the fill line,if it's frozen get a hair dryer,shut down the fridge or unplug it and blow the hot air into the fill line until the ice melts,then get a piece of wire and after you reinstall the ice maker pop off the cover to the ice maker and jump it out with the wire,stick it in the t and h for 15 seconds and pull it out,if the ice maker is good it will start turning and when the arms get at like 11 oclock it should fill,also you can jump out the fill valve from the ice maker,stick it in v and L and if water fills the ice maker you know you have a bad ice maker if the fill line isn't frozen.hope this helps.next time you need help send the model number,on your machine look in the fridge section on the right hand wall up near the ceiling to find it,if it's older look down near the bottom hinge on the fridge door and you'll see a tag with the model number.good luck

The defrost drain is clogged. The defrost water is puddling up in the bottom of the freezer.
Thaw her out and remove the service panel. Unclog the drain. I use a hair dryer and a shop vac.

This happened to me a couple of times, when I didn't use the dispenser for a few days while on vacation. What happened to my water tanks is that they froze between the dispenser and the filter. pull out the bottom drawers and remove the tank covers on the left side. This is all the way in the lower left corner of the fridge compartment. The lines seem to freeze back there, so get a hair dryer and thaw them out!

Remove the ice maker and back panel in freezer.1/4 inch nut driver to remove screws. there are 3 screws for the ice maker 2 on the back wall and 2 on the bottom panel. Use a hair dryer to melt ice block.All water will flow down into drip pan under fridge. May overflow use a turkey baster to remove water from pan. Pour hot water onto drain until the water flows freely into the pan.

servis frostfree fridge freezer not working after 2weeks holiday returned it had completely defrosted fridge & freezer power supply still connected. warning light on. done all the trouble shooting in the srvice manual still want go cold or freeze. light on in the fridge, no water in the rear tray & cleaned the overflow pipe??. Not getting enough water into the ice maker. Could be a partially frozen supply line, restricting the total water input, or it could be that the timer needs to be adjust.

If the water supply tube to the icemaker is frozen. It will be a white rubber tube on the right side of the icemaker. Warm it with a hair dryer, remove it from its aluminum tubing, and make sure there is no ice all the way back to where the supply tube comes from the water valve. After thawing, your icemaker should start working again.

Now..... why did it freeze? Most likely, there is a restricted airflow to the back of the unit, which is need to keep that aluminum supply tube just warm enough to assure all the water flow OUT of it into the icemaker, and doesn't freeze up on contact. Make sure your coils and the airspace under the fridge are completely clean (vacuuum them well) and it should cure the problem.
