Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.

  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

My power supply is blinking orange when i put it in the xbox 360 what do this mean.

Hello. An orange light is illuminated on the power supply for one of the following reasons:

a The console is turned off.
b The power supply is disconnected from the console.
c The power supply cord is not fully inserted into the power socket of the console.
d The power supply is faulty.
e The console is faulty. (The console might be faulty if it does not turn on when the power supply light is orange.)

The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either your Xbox 360 console or the power supply itself. The power supply will automatically turn off if either the current flow, the voltage, or the temperature is too high. When the power supply turns off for any of these reasons, the light on the power supply will turn from green (normal) to orange or to red, or the light will turn off. When the power supply light is green, the power supply is working correctly. What you are experiencing is an over heating issue, that may have damaged the supply.

With that being said, i would try to reset the supply by disconnecting the unit form the console, and unplugging the power supply unit form the wall socket for 5 minutes. Once the 5 minutes have passed, reconnect the unit to the console, and plug the power supply into the wall socket. If the console dose not power up, and the supply unit is still showing an orange illuminated operating light, this will confirm that the power supply unit will need to be replaced. Contact Microsoft for the correct replacement parts needed(power supply unit)

TIPS FOR PREVENTING OVERHEATING ISSUES

1 Do not block any ventilation openings in the power supply.
2 Do not put the power supply on a bed, on a sofa, or on any other soft surface that might block ventilation openings.
3 Do not put the power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.
4 Do not put the power supply on a stereo speaker, an amplifier, or a heat source such as a radiator or a heat register.
5 Do not use an unlicensed accessory, such as a replacement power supply that was not manufactured by Microsoft, or any accessory that plugs in between the Xbox 360 console and the power supply.
6 Plug the power supply directly into a working wall outlet. You may have problems with the power supply if you use an extension cord or a power strip if the extension cord or the power strip is faulty or cannot supply the required power to the console.
7 If you are not sure about the reliability of an AC power outlet, power circuit, or power cabling, do not use it. Contact an electrician.

Ac adapter is red, what should i do?

This problem occurs when the power supply detects a problem. The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either the console or to the power supply. The power supply will turn off if:
  • There is too much current.
  • The voltage is too high.
  • The temperature of the power supply is too high.
When any of these things happen, the light on the power turns red.
Solution 1: Make sure that the power supply is cool loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); The red light might indicate that the power supply is too hot or that it has overheated. Follow these steps if the power supply light is red:
  1. Turn the console off.
  2. Disconnect your Xbox 360 Power Supply from your Xbox 360 console and from the wall outlet.

Collapse this imageExpand this image unplugpowersupply.jpg

  3. Let the power supply cool for two hours in a well-ventilated space. Do not connect the Xbox 360 power supply to the console or to the wall outlet during this time.
  4. After the power supply has cooled for two hours, reconnect the power supply to the console and to the wall outlet, and then turn the console on.
If the power supply light is still red, try the next solution.
Solution 2: Make sure that the power supply is plugged in loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); Make sure that the power supply is directly plugged into a working wall outlet. Problems might occur with the power supply if it is connected through an extension cord or surge protector.

If the power supply light is still red after you connect the power supply directly to a working all outlet, try the next solution.
Solution 3: Plug the power supply into a different wall outlet loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); To check the possibility that the wall outlet you are using is faulty or that there is a blown fuse, plug the power cord into a wall outlet that you know is working.

If this does not solve the problem, try the next solution.
Solution 4: Order a replacement Xbox 360 power supply loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); If you've tried all the solutions above and your power supply light is still red, you should contact Xbox Support to order a replacement power supply.

To help the power supply work correctly, follow these guidelines:
  • Do not block any ventilation openings in the power supply.
  • Do not put the power supply on a bed, a sofa, or on any other soft surface that might block ventilation openings.
  • Do not put the power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.
  • Do not put the power supply on a stereo speaker, an amplifier, or a heat source such as a radiator or a heat register.
  • Do not use an unlicensed accessory, such as a third-party power supply or any accessory that plugs in between the Xbox 360 console and the power supply.
  • Plug the power supply directly into a working wall outlet. The power supply might not work correctly if it is connected to an extension cord or surge protector.
hope this helps.

I need an ASTEC power supply model SA147-3506 for IBM P-2 computer, Can anybody help me??!!

145 Watt power supply with the old style AT motherboard power cable connectors. (2 Each)

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#oldpc

I just put Astec SA147-3506 in my browser search bar, and came up with a number of search hits. Prices ranged from $50 to $170!

And it's a 145 Watt power supply! Astec is a cheap quality power supply manufacturer, to boot!

You know, there is a way to use a newer reliable power supply, and the AT power supply motherboard connectors, off of the power supply you have.

It's not for the squeamish, but can be done.

The power wires are removed from the ATX power supply motherboard cable connector, of the new power supply, and inserted into the AT power supply connectors.
(ATX 12V power supply is the newer one. AT power wires removed from the P8, and P9 connectors of your old power supply)

Power supply light is red

This issue occurs when the external power supply has detected a fault. The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either the console or to the power supply itself. The power supply will turn itself off if one of the following conditions is true:
  • There is too much current
  • The voltage is too high
  • The temperature of the power supply is too high
Under these conditions, the light on the power supply turns red.

Step 1: Make sure that the power supply is cool loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); The red light may indicate that the power supply is too hot or that it has already overheated. If the power supply light is red, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that your Xbox 360 console is turned off.
  2. Disconnect your Xbox 360 Power Supply from your Xbox 360 console and from the wall socket.

For more information about how to disconnect the Xbox 360 power supply, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 906205 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906205/ ) How to connect and disconnect the Xbox 360 power supply
  3. Let the power supply cool for several hours in a well-ventilated space. Do not connect the Xbox 360 power supply to the console or to the wall socket during this time.
  4. After the power supply has cooled for several hours, reconnect the Xbox 360 Power Supply to the console and to the wall socket.
If the power supply light is still red, go to step 2. Step 2: Make sure that the power supply is plugged in correctly loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); If the power cord is plugged in to an extension cord, a surge protector, or a power strip, the current or voltage that flows through the power supply may not be correct. Make sure that the power supply is plugged directly into a working wall outlet.
Step 3: Plug the power supply into a different wall socket loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); Try a different wall socket. Ideally, plug the power supply into a wall outlet that is elsewhere in the house.
