Hi, I am only a housewife but salt is a corrosive. At home depo, menards, or lowes you can get a dishwasher cleaning kit. Use that to clean your dishwasher. Next because of new state and national laws soaps had to have a change in the chemical make up to have less sulfate or something like that. My glasses were cloudy all the time. I cleaned my dishwasher and now I
only put in dawn dish soap. I don't have to use anything else. My dishes come out clean and spotless. Now you may have to do a little more cleaning on your dishes before you put them in
because your not using regular dishwasher soap but I don't have those spots. Also I put about
a fourth teaspoon of the liquid soap in the 1st cycle soap dish and another fourth teaspoon in the 2nd cycle. You may have to experiment as to the amount you need becasue of how hard your
water is. If you put too much in soap suds will come out during the wash cycles. Hope is works
Marty Mouse the housewife.

How to clean cast iron both pots and pans

Don't..... just rinse with hot water and dry them, the blackening is otherwise known as "seasoning" and protects it from rusting, left to soak or washing with soapy water will rust the cast iron...... if this happens you need to remove as much rust as possible by scrubbing with salt and a cut (half) potato, then wiping with vegetable oil and "seasoning" in a hot oven (do this a few times, the oil will evaporate and bake-on a protective film) think of the edges of your favourite roasting pan....... well used/cared for cast iron will almost certainly look totally black.

Glasses and frying pans not clean at end of cycle. Residue on glasses and cups, food particles on frying pans.

it's generally not a good idea to put really greasy items in a dishwasher along with relatively clean items such as glassware and plates and cutlery, as most recent good quality dishwashers come with a soil sensor that ends the wash cycle once the dishes appear clean, and all the grease from your frying pan will cause the soil sensor to take longer to detect clean water.

Some of our dishes in the top and bottom rack are showing a white film, especially on plasticware and the outside of pots, pans, ceramic or regular glasses. Also some glasses on top rack , but not all,...

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1/4 of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

Try cleaning the machine by adding white vinegar to the wash water (before the water-fill procedure finishes). Put your stained dishes and cutlery in with the wash to remove the hard water deposits. The combination of salt and rinse aid may have helped cause this problem. Hope this helps!

Not coming out clean

I'm guessing from your post that your cutlery is the only thing in the dishwasher that is not getting clean, but rather with that nasty coating when you go to empty it. The reason for this phenomenon doesn't lie in a problem with the dishwasher, but rather a simple chemical and physical reaction between the dishwashing liquid (or powder or tablet), heat from the dishwasher's dryer, and the metal on that set of cutlery. The bleach from the dishwashing detergent will work very hard at getting your glasses, bowls, and everything glass and/or plastic clean and sparkling because it contains bleach in its ever-proprietary mixture of citrussy goodness. Unfortunately, metals and bleach, combined with heat are NOT a good combination! The best advice I can give you in this case (again, assuming that everything else in your dishwasher is looking fabulous and that your cutlery is the only thing that is not) is to wash your cutlery by hand with regular dish soap in the sink and do not put them in the dishwasher. Of course, it's easier to just stick all of that stuff in the dishwasher and not wash it by hand! It's why you bought a dishwasher in the first place, right? But if you want your cutlery (especially if it's GOOD cutlery) to look good and perform well, your best bet is to wash it the good ol' fashioned way...In the sink.

I hope this helps! :) Let me know if you need anything else that I can help with.

Dirty glasses

there is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. it actually filters the water going into your dishes. the dishes look dirty because your water has a lot of calcium and magnesium in it making them appear cloudy or dirty. the dishwasher filter reduces those minerals and my dishes look perfect now. no more dirty and grimy looking dishes. i also dont waste time washing them by hand before and after the dishwasher. hahaha you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com. use code DFMTEN and you will get 10% off. it fits right under your sink and is very affordable. you will be glad you bought this product. thanks
