At home depot the sell a pen that beeps at the sight of voltage (sensor) 12$ good house hold tool to have.. check the cord running to pump see if the pen beeps when held against cord if its a 110 set up the pen beeps and youve the 110 V needed to run the pump if 220 V a bit different .. if left powered But not running in a few min, touch motor housing the metal part of this unit. is it hot as a grill (internal winding problem) or still cool .. Motors are a wear item like tires on ones car.. motors are inexp like 110$ for a 1 hp unit

Hi,
Try to check if the connections were touching. Open the motor then tape the connection to avoid short circuit. Also, you might need to check your wires if they are enough to handle the current. Check the temperature, are the wires getting hot? do you have proper grounding?
Hope this helps.

As long as the vents on the motor are faceing down so no water can get into the elect. you should be fine.

I have a proline 2hp above ground pump. A snake

The impeller is still jammed you need to get it cleaned out. You can try with a pair of needle knose pliers if that doesnt work your gona have to remove the pump bolts that hold the motore to the pump pod. Remove the bolts around the motor and seperate it this will give you better axcess to the impeller. Clean it out and try to move it if the impeller will not spin freely with the debris removed the motor has burned up .

Will not pump when it has a filter in it

filters are too good for pump system.

These pool pumps seam to over heat fast, no quick fix.

* Try getting more air flow around pump.
* Only use pump when using pool or near by.
* Use a pool cover - will help stop dirt/rubbish getting into pool - less to filter.
