Hello - I tried the reset procedure I found online for my Taylor scale and it did not work. Any suggestions? My scale is weighing light and has been. I have replaced the batteries. I have taken the batteries out and stood on the scale for 5 seconds and put the batteries back in and that does not work. I actually tried it twice. I am disappointed in this scale.

If the reset did not work then the electronics are fubar. Not much you can do since repair is more than the purchase price of new one.

SOURCE: need manual to reset scale to weigh properly

Either do a search for that particular scale brand & model, which should take you to the company, whom should have a manual on-line or go back under search and type in "users manuals". There should be several manual websites that come up. Just don't click on the websites that require money for their manuals, when you can get them for free at other sites.

SOURCE: Err 1 message on Taylor Lithium Elec Scale model 7346

This is a reply I received from Taylor customer support. I have followed this procedure enough times to wear out the original battery and still get the Err 1 message. You may have better luck.

Thank you for your e-mail. The reboot below may clear the error from
your scale. You may need to do this several times to completely reboot
the system. Please let us know if you have any questions or continue to
display the Error.

1. Remove the battery from the scale
2. Set the scale on the floor without the battery in place.
3. Stand on the scale for 10 seconds (still without the battery)
4. Carefully replace the battery without turning the scale on.
5. Using only one foot, tap the scale or apply just enough pressure to
turn on the display. (It should show dashes or zero's) IMMEDIATELY
REMOVE YOUR FOOT.
6. Let the scale turn off
7. Step on the scale for a weight reading

My Taylor digital model 5789FW is displaying err1 after the weight is taken. What causes that?

Step 1
Step lightly on the scale until it displays "--", "0000" and turns off if you receive the error "ERR0," which means the scale is not initialized. Initialization must occur after each battery installation.
Step 2
Set the scale on a flat, even surface, not on surfaces such as carpet if you receive an error "ERR1."
Step 3
Step off the scale and wait for it to reset before stepping on it again if you receive an "ERR2," which often means the unit was jarred or overloaded. Also, if you weigh more than the maximum weight capacity you will receive this error.
Step 4
Remove your shoes and socks and wet your feet slightly with a damp cloth if you receive the "ERR3" error. ERR3 is a contact error and your feet should ideally be bare and wet to achieve an accurate body-fat reading.
Step 5
Step off the scale and wait for it reset. Remove your shoes and socks and wet your feet slightly if you receive either the "ERR4" or "ERR5" errors, which means your body-fat or body measurements are out of range.
Step 6
Reset the scale if it doesn't work or you continue to receive error messages. Remove the battery and set the scale on a flat surface. Stand still on the scale for five seconds and step off. Re-install the battery and place the scale back on the flat surface. Place one foot on the scale until it displays zeros or dashes. Remove your foot and wait for the scale to turn off. Step back on the scale to weigh yourself.
Step 7
Replace the battery if you receive a "lo" or "bat" error.

Hello: my digital food scale (taylor digital biggest loser brand) goes on but it does not weigh anything. its stays at zero. i've had it a year but only used it once or twice, so its almost never been...

    Hello, Maclay55 -

I hope you checked the owner's manual first, the troubleshooting / problem solving section.

It wouldn't hurt to put new batteries in the scale (2 AAA batteries).

Note: From the instructions for the scales:

    6. Do not store scale where you store cleaning chemicals. The vapors from some household products may affect the electronic components of your scale. Do not store scale on its side.

    7. This scale is an extremely sensitive weighing device. In order to prevent run down of the battery, do not store anything on the scale.

    8. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Batteries may explode or leak. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix Alkaline, carbon-zinc (standard) or Nickel-Cadmium (rechargeable) batteries. Remove the batteries if the scale will not be used for a long period of time.

Gives me diffrent weights even though I am weighing myself within seconds of time, and in the same spot on the floor.

I've found I have to weigh myself, step off, weigh myself with something in my something heavy in my hands, then weigh myself again. The 3rd weight you get will be your correct weight. If you needed the manual, I have uploaded in into photobucket...although it doesn't really address this issue.

Hello my taylor 5589 fat scale doesn´t work anymore. each time i weigh myself it says err2. i changed the batteries and it´s still the same.

Had the same problem with mine and sent it back since it's under warranty. Taylor did not need a receipt and I just received a new scale today, model 5742 although it cost me just about $20 to ship it back and that's UPS ground! The scale retails for $29.99 on amazon.com. Good luck!
