I have a GE Adora side-by-side refrigerator Model # DSD26DHWA-BG. About 1 year ago the ice maker stopped producing ice. The mold that forms the ice cubes is filling up with water but never pushes out cubes. The water dispenser works fine. I also noticed over the last year that on occasion when I would open the freezer there is ice crystals all over everything and its getting worse. Sometimes when I open the freezer door I would notice that all the ice crystals have melted then the next day they have formed again. I read on the GE website that if you have little or no food in the freezer this can cause air circulation problems. Granted we hardly have anything in the freezer at one given time maybe 2-3 things but I feel thats not the issue. I tried the ice maker diagnostic reset that GE recommends but no change. I'm handy around the house so I feel confident that if it needs a replacement part I can replace it with instruction. Thank you so much for your time!! Please help! Jarrad Cody

Hello, there are three screws that hold the icemaker in place if you remove these three screws and unplug the icemaker and remove it from the unit. After you take the icemaker out take the entire unit with the cover on it and run it under hot hot water this is actually quiet common for an icemaker to freeze up well actually its the parts on the inside of the icemaker that are freezeing up. After you defrost the icemaker as I term it then you would dry the icemaker and reinstall it. when the icemaker reaches 32 degrees the icemaker will call for water once again from the water valve if at this time after the ice forms the unit still doesnt drop the icecubes then you would have no other alternative then to buy another icemaker they usually sell for around 50-90 dollars american. The icemaker is not worth replacing parts on due to if you were to replace parts on the icemaker you would end up spending about 4 times as much as the entire icemaker costs. If you have any further questions message me back and please remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future. Thanks again Rick

Thank you for the info, I will look into that. I don't think that would cause the ice crystals on the walls and shelves. Do you?

My icemaker has stopped receiving water

it sounds like your water valve is bad. you have a double water valve - one side operates the ice maker and the other side operates the water dispenser. the ice maker side of the valve is bad.

you can manually pour a little water in the ice maker ice mold and wait an hour or so - if it dumps the ice then you know for sure that the ice maker is cycling and water is not getting to the ice maker from the water valved

Our GE Adora Refrigerator's ice maker isn't working properly

Perhaps your freezer isn't set cold enough - or your freezer door seal is not sealing correctly and the ice cubes are melting in the bin and sticking to one another and the spiral screw that delivers the ice.

Ice maker not working Kenmore model 106.55226400

Look for an ice cube lodged in the fingers IM. Get a hair dryer and melt that dude. No ice cube? Add some water to the IM mold. If it kicks out some ice but makes no more then you is gonna need a water valve. If it don't kick out no ice then you is gonna need a ice mold thermostat. Either one is very easy and cheap to fix. let me know Kimosabe.
