SOURCE: Switching from PC monitor to an HDTV monitor

Yes, this product will do the job. An easier solution, although probably more expensive, would be to use a video card with dual outputs. Using a video card with dual outputs would allow you to see the computer's video on both screens simultaneously.

I also have virgin media broadband do I need to connect the box to my modem or to the cable from the wall? I have also read quite a bit about needing firmware or a usb to put in the back of the box? Any help would be greatly appreciated."

SOURCE: power cord

If the voltage is the same, and the current of your replacement adapter is equal to / greater than the original, it should work perfectly fine.
BUT..
The only thing to pay attention to is if it is AC or DC. AC requires nothing more for you to do. DC however, will require that you have the proper polarity: PLUS (+) and MINUS (-) on the mating plug contact points. If you guess at this, you have a 50/50 chance of turning it into "toast". If the socket is unmarked, contact the manufacturer to obtain polarity information BEFORE connecting!
Good luck!

Testimonial: "Dear Steve, thank you for your quick responce. I made the mistake of pluging it in and it did say DC on the hard drive. I was stupid and lucky because it seems to be woking fine. Should I asume that the polarity: PLUS (+) and MINUS (-) on the mating plug contact points are correct or could it still turn to toast? THANKS once again, Gordy"

Monitor lost color went blue contrast. now well not turn on.

The monitor has at least two issues, the color is lost and gone to blue screen, second it will not turn on. It will be cheaper to replace the monitor with a new one rather than fixing the Star Logic Monitor. But I would suggest using a spare monitor to check the computer for any possible issue.

Power supply- the monitor will short out and I have to adjust the power adapter going into the monitor. The monitor will not stay on but the green light remains on.

It sounds like there is a connection problem between the monitor and the adapter, make sure there is no problems with the two connection devices. Also, you may need to purchase another cord, IF there is something blocking the adapter from receiving full connection to the monitor.

Getting screen to stay on

Brenda the problem with star logic LCD monitors is they have a capacitor fail internally there is not a big thing wrong with your monitor just one bad 25 cent part maybe 4 or 6 but the little parts are the ones that need to be replaced internally on the pcb board by soldering new caps in place of the old ones. I can do this for you o you can research it on the net ther are numerous examples everywhere. hope this helps

Flat screen monitor comes up with No Signal

If it goes to NO signal again, its not necessarily the whole Flat screen that is dead. Just replace the Video logic board with a known good one and it should work

Most monitors only have 2 or 3 boards
Logic board, Inverter, Power supply
or Logic video ,and a power supply board with an embedded inverter.

You have to open the monitor and replace.

Star logic monitor settings

I typically do capacitor replacement on lcds all the time insde, the board for power will most likely have 1 - 4 blown capacitors, replace these and the monitor should be good as new, btw 1 is a 10 v smallish size you can replace it with a 16 volt same MF.

19 inch star logic monitor

bad vga board however you can open it up and see if the capactors are blown replacing them may solve this problem however when an LCD monitor goes white typically it is the microchip that has gone bad so I sell the monitor for parts and buy a new one.
