gnarly, do you have the updated motor, harness and start cap? If it goes into spin and does this chunk a chunka chunka bit. Take a meter to the white and white/red wire going to the motor. If you have a steady 120V, replace the motor with the new kit. What the motor is doing is jogging between high to low speed. Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: replacing belt on GE front loader wsxh208a1ww
Replace the Inner spin Tub #131618500 with Trunion and outer Shell # 131525500 with the bearing. There is enough wear and tear in these parts that the belt will come on in one direction and not the other.

look in back of mach for 4 shipping bolts.they are usually housed in a rubber grommet surrounded by a yellow plastic shaft.if they are there remove all 4 of them.also remove bottom access panel by taking out 2 screws(1 on each bottom corner)look for 1 or 2 yellow steel bars connecting base to tub.if they are there remove.if none of these shipping bolts or brackets are there, you have a broken basket.if that's the case, try to get your money back or buy a new mach.it is a $600 repair..good luck
