The disk may have unrecoverable formatting errors making it useless. Or your hardware could be on the failure.

If you absolutely must , try purchasing or borrowing an external floppy drive and try to save the information to the disk on the external drive. If if formats and works then you know your internal floppy drive is bad.

If it has the same problems as formatting it in your internal drive, then the floppy itself is bad.

If I may suggest , in the future it would be wiser to save all your data to a removable USB Flash Drive. They are very very inexpensive and cost a lot less then a box of floppies :)

Sabrent external floppy reader is asking me to format my floppy disk. how can a format it without deleting my files on floppy disk?

Your floppy disk drive may be defective. Also, Some floppy drives are manufactured differently. Your best bet is to find another floppy drive to read your floppy disk. You can try to take it to the nearest computer store and ask them to read it for you. If they can read it at the computer store? The Sabrent drive you received if bad. If they cannot read it the floppy is bad. If the floppy is bad you can try to download free data recovery software to attempt to recover your data, files etc. Good luck

When i try to run a disk it says the disk is not formatted do i want to format it now. the disk has information on it so it has to be formatted .

It is possible that there are errors on the floppy disk or the disk was formated using a format that is incompatible with the current operating system. If the disk is readable on another system, the best solution would be to copy the files onto a portable USB flash drive, then reformat the floppy disk using a filesystem that is readable on the desired computer.

Viking D1 error message file not found

You need to use either Organizer or Disk Manager to put designs on the floppy disk. Both of these are Husqvarna programs, not part of your computers operating system. If you copy shv file directly, the machine does not have all of the information that it needs to read the files. If the folder containing your original shv files that you purchased contains additional files, you just need to copy EVERY file within that folder to the floppy disk and it might work. Don't attempt to move individual files to the floppy. You will need them all.

Asking to format not reading floppies

I can tell you just what I told someone else with the same problem a minute ago. Your computer doesn't support the floppy format you saved the data on the disk with. All you can really do is try putting the disk in every computer you can find until one of them reads it. So, basically, there may not be much you can do. Personally, I hate removable disks. I have that same problem with CDs all the time.
Well, good luck.

Floopy drive

Sounds like you have a bad floppy drive. If you are unable to read a disk and it wants to format it so it can read it try letting it format a floppy with no data on it or with floppy you don't care about. If it can format and you can read and write to it, then bad disks. If not then you know you have a bad floppy drive. Replace and enjoy.
