The double click on my Logitech MX620 Mouse is periodically unresponsive and sometimes when selecting text, it sticks and highlights several lines instead of one word. What's the problem and what can I do about it? Thanks

Sometimes mouse misbehaves due to mouse hardware problem. One of it is the clicking switch itself. If you click and drag an object, but the object drops half way, or the mouse jumps, definitely this is the hardware switch problem.
Open mouse shell, clean all dust, clean and scrape clean the click switch metals / carbons contacts. Put back the mouse and test. If the problem goes away, be happy, if not, donate the mouse to a thrift store so that someone else may deal with it. (only if you cannot throw it away).

Computer mouse tips

Using the mouse in combination with the keys on your keyboard can give you several different advantages and help improve your overall productivity on the computer. Below are just a few examples.
Almost all text editors
Many text editors or programs that allow you to edit text support the ability to quickly highlight all or portions of text by using the Shift key and the mouse. For example, move the cursor to the beginning of the text you wish to highlight, hold down the shift key, and click at the end of the text you wish to highlight. If supported and done properly this will highlight all text in-between the points you clicked.
Microsoft Word
In Microsoft Word holding down the ALT key on your keyboard while clicking and dragging your mouse and you will be able to drag a box and highlight only portions of text and not the whole line.

I have a Logitech Laser Mouse #M-RBY125. While typing the cursor jumps to different places on the page or disappears completely. Windows automatically open for no reason. Sometimes highlights sentences...

To adjust your mouse movements: To change the pointer speed and customize your cursor, please do the following:
  1. Launch SetPoint (Start > Programs > Logitech > Mouse and Keyboard > Mouse and Keyboard Settings).
  2. Select the My Mouse tab and click the Mouse Movement tab on the left. Select the Wireless Mouse M505/B605 from the Select Mouse drop-down list.

Loss of control over my mouse.

Hi Arsenal,

My Logitech cordless occasionally does the same thing. On mine it was caused by a build up of gunk over the optical sensor. Once I cleaned it, it functioned normally.

I know it doesn't make sense as far as the buttons. I'm just sharing what worked for me. Hope it works for you.

Best regards
Mike

Logitech G7 cordless laser mouse - erratic action

Acting on advice from another FixYa string, we blew out the mouse and dock several times with canned air. It performed slightly better, but then as we continued to use the mouse it suddenly cleared and is working almost 100% now.

From reading earlier strings, I'm wondering why Logitech (in its product material received on purchase) doesn't recommend this as periodic maintenance for the mouse?
