Our Transformer became very hot a couple of days ago and eventually turned darker brown across the mid-section of the transformer within an hour. We disconnected the unit and want to know if this is replacable or should we have our entire alarm system looked at. It is a 120V/60HZ Pittway Transformer. Thanks!

Why does the transformer get hot and burn up?

The only thing that would cause this is something in the circuit is pulling too much electricity through that transformer. So what is the transformer hooked to? Please post the make and model

Nakamichi Soundspace 5 will not turn on with the remote or the power button

The main fuse, or power transformer is open, or the audio output ic has failed. Since you were having trouble with the remote and power button I recommend replacing the item, cost to repair will be high.

Hi i m sanjay i m having sony colour television kv-2782me7 i found some problem in power supply section i m geting low voltages frm secondary output i want 135 ,25 ,8 , and -33dc voltages bt i m geting...

there is a possibility of a shorted turn of the flyback transformer. To test. short B-E together on the horizontal output transistor and connect 60W globe across C-E. measure voltage across lamp - if it comes up to 135v then you have a short either in the horizontal circuit or secondary circuit off the flyback transformer or even the transformer itself.

Intermittant power up. Would work for a couple of hours then completey turn off no power at all. No standy by light. Reboot computer a few times then it would come on.

the power supply is separate from comp. see if transformer is getting hot. that box with power wire thats between the monitor and outlet if there isn't one that means the transformer is inside the monitor is if faulty you need to change the transformer. hope this helps

Water runs when furnace is off, but stops when furnace is on.

the 760 humidifier does not need a transformer wired externally. the 760 has its' own 24v transformer inside the fan compartment. this transformer will provide the power to enrgize the water solenoid as needed. it sounds like to me the additional trasnformer is hot all the time. when the furnace comes on, the unit gets power and the internal transformer is cancelling the power from the external transformer. this would explain why it quits running when the heat is on. since the external transformer is hot all time, when the heat shuts off, the solenoid is getting energized by the external transformer. to make this run correctly, you need to get rid of the external transformer. leave the humidifier high voltage wires hooked up so they are only hot when the furnace runs. if you have a humidistat that has a r and c terminal, you will need to wire these directly to the r and c on the furnace control board and move the switch inside the humidistat to "power". make sure it is not on "bypass". then wire your 2 brown wires from the humidifier to each of the "h" terminals on the humidistat. if you have a humidistat that only has 2 terminals, wire one brown wire to each of the terminals. this should allow it to run properly.

HV Sound no Picture

Sounds as though there is an intermitant, heat-related problem with the HV transformer. You can order this at a tv parts shop or from Sony (probably more expensive) the part number should be on the part or on a schematic. If not, the parts dealer can look it up from the model number.

Good luck! :)

Flyback transformer on television

Single white line across screen mean a vertical colapse. So you will need the vertical output and maybe a cap around 100uf@50v.
