When I start my 15000 watt generac generator I have to excite the field to get voltage? It is a ultra source guardian when I first start it. The rpm is erratic until I get voltage.?

That may be normal. Some generators have to have the magnetic field excited in order to increase the magnetic lines of force for the armature to cut through.

The current starter battery is not recharging. I would like to know if there is a problem with the alternator or battery charging mechanism. If so, is there a replacement part available ??

Hi Frank,

Have you charged the battery and see if it holds a charge? If it does, then it's probably your alternator.

I hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

Fuse blows repeatedly

The auto speed control is failed. Keep it manual and see how it does...It will run at full throttle even when no load is running. Then fix the throttle control when able.

Have you checked the fuse? Mine keeps blowing the fuse (located on the back of the control panel) with each startup and shutdown or use of idle control.

I have a Generac 15000 watt portable generator. It cranks great, but will not start. The plugs are wet, doesn't seem to be getting any spark. Have replaced plugs, any suggestion.

I have solved the flooding problem . unfortanetly you must remove the carb to fix it. once you remove the carb you need to remove the fuel bowl. In the bottem of the fuel bowl there is a electronic seloniod that controols the amount of fule going to combustion. this aria had varnish and gunk built up around the plunger of the selonoid, long story short clean this out with carb and chook cleaner and put it back together. start her up and she will run like a champ.
