Red light in charger flash when battery is put in to charging

Sometimes, this is a result of a battery that is too cold (below freezing-warm it up). Sometimes it can be too hot (discharged under heavy stress-let it cool down). I had the same problem with flashing red lights. Both sides on a four battery charger. I swapped the batteries to another charger and the batteries were fine. They charged normally. I put some different batteries in the charger and the same flashing light situation. Those batteries also charged normally in a different charger. I looked closely at the back of the charger and, low and behold, "made in China". Why does that not surprise me. The bottom line, it may not be a battery issue.

Clean your battery contacts on the battery and charger with a pencil eraser to assure good contact. Flashing red or flashing in general usually is the sign of a too low to charge battery, a shorted battery or a bad connection. In some instances, a battery will begin to charge once left on the flashing charger for an hour or so. Try this and see if the light becomes constant. If so, it is charging. If it still flashes, replace the battery.

i have same camera.. but i dont think this is a problem.. while charging light keep flash.. when it completes charging it shows u solid red light..

Clean contact points of both battery and charger with q-tips dipped in rubbing alcohol. This solved my problem with blinking lights and not charging of the batteries.

I had this problem a few weeks ago (i.e. flashing red LED). All I did was remove the power plug from the charging unit, turned it around 180 degrees, then plugged it back into the charging unit. Red LED came on steady & the battery (which is the one that came with the camera) recharged as normal.
