My Compaq 7500 CRT monitor shuting on and off repeatedly with a ticking sound every time(most probably the relay switching). The front panel LED is also flashing on and off along with it. Please help

The problem is the flyback transformer, or the crt filiment is open. Replacement of the monitor is recommended due to cost over run to repair.

My guess is that the ON/OFF switch is broken.

It's time to responsibly recycle your old CRT monitor, and buy a new LCD monitor.

You can remove the back panel and use an air jet to clean up the PCB and make it clean. The reason why the standard marking is made not to open is to prevent any accident due to carelesnes or inexperiecned handling.
But do not use brush on the components as it might change settings without your kowledge.

there should be a default setting in under the menu (on the monitor itself) browse though the menus using the up and down again, look for that defaults option and select it, most monitors have this. hope that helps. use the thumbs if it does.

circuit diagrams exist at the factory where they were designed. Though I have looked before they cannot be found. I do not believe they exist.

Check the HOT also check to see if you have B+ voltage line looks like either fbt or output transistor.

replace Menu buttons (Microswitches) and check 5v path
check dry points.

if it is in warranty take it to the service center. if not replace the monitor is it an old heavy crt monitor or a new flat panel?
