If under warranty, click "Contact Support" via their
website and arrange for replacement. You may or may not get your particular GPS returned (as described below).
If out of warranty, you can determine the flat rate repair on Garmin's "
Out of Warranty" page. If you decide that the price shown when you select your model is the route to pursue, you need to understand a couple of things. 1) You will not get your GPS back. You will be getting a GPS that was repaired already and is waiting to be sent to an owner with a problem GPS. Your personal data will be lost - since you're getting a different GPS. You might also want to delete this info before sending the GPS in - so that if by some reason it isn't deleted - no one will have it. 2) the cost of the repair includes the latest map updates - this is a $79 value alone for many of the Navteq map products.
Example: My nuvi 760 has a flat rate repair of $99. The maps on it are 2 years old. For the cost of a map update, I get the map update and a new (to me - but actually is a "factory refurbished nuvi 760) GPS.
You can also make the repairs for some models yourself with
parts and
instructions on the ebay / internet (the examples given are the first ones I saw - had you included your model, I'd have provided links for it instead).
I hope this helps & good luck!
