Whirlpool Gold GC5NHAXSB03 french door refridgerator/freezer. 3yrs old, all of sudden, freezes everything in the fridge. Control / Display shows inside fridge temperature 70 degrees (everything frozen) freezer 0 degrees. Seems to me like a temp sensor in the fridge portion not working?

STOP! Don't worry about the other responses- it is SO simple to fix. You just press the two right two buttons (lock and measured fill) at the same time and hold for 3 seconds. That's it!!

The temperature thermistor may need to be replaced. If under a year old should be covered under warranty.

two options...one drain hole blocked in freezer,clean with copper wire/bleach to clear gunge.
two outside temp too cold i.e. unit in garage/outhouse( too cold for compressor )
also check seal to doors.air leaks...

If your sure about spoiled food. Spoiled lemons are one of the worst, and the machine has not been abused, it's a problem of the selling dealer. Fan motors have been known to create an odor when their windings start to burn. Plastic items that become detached from the interior cabinet and wind up laying on the defrost heater which gets very hot during defrost is another, however, I would demand a service call (free) since everything on it is under warranty. Make sure it's creating the odor when the tech shows up.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

YOU FIRST SOLUTION TO THE DRAIN HOLE FREEZING UP YOU NEED TO GET A TECHNICIAN TO HAVE A LOOK AND REPAIR IT,IT WILL BE BEST IF HE INSTALLS A PAD HEATER TO KEEP THE DRIP TRAY FROM ICING UP.YOUR SECOND PROBLEM YOU NEED TO SEE IF THE DRAIN HOLE IN THE FRIDGE SECTION IS NOT BLOCKED WITH ANYTHING IF SO HAVE IT CLEANED AND POUR SOME HOT WATER DOWN TO WASH OUT WAT IS IN THE DRAIN PIPE.GOOD LUCK.MOHAMED
