When turning of the camera the lens does not draw in. When turning it on, the lens draws in and out again, afterwords the message appears: turn camera off and then on again

Same problem, lens makes some strange clicking noise when coming out, then displays shut off and on again, doesn't go back in when i turn it of. Goes in and comes out and displays message again when turned on.

I had this problem on the weekend! I fixed it with a more archaic method. When it says turn the camera off and then on again, the lens is stuck out. It only goes back in when I turned the camera off and then on for a brief second, and then pops out again. I held the lens in with my fingers when I turned it back on. The camera tries to open the lens 3 times and then gives up. I then turned the camera off whilst the lens was closed. Left it for a few seconds and turned it back on. Voila!!!

Reset the panasonic dmc-fx8 digital camera

hi, i'm not sure if it is a full reset, but it worked for me. i've an fx8. i had a problem 2 weeks ago. my objective didn't want to close when i switched the camera off. it remained open. when i switched the camera on again, the objetcive has closed and opened again, and the _Turn Off the Camera and Turn On again_ message appeared on the sisplay. and remained in open position after switching it off. i tried some button combination, like menu button on, and power the camera on. it didn't work, but the second was pressing the shotting button and holding it down while powering on the machine combination. an it worked, my camera did some kind of reset. it returned to the original position, and everithing is working since then. the time and other settings didn't changed. anyone knows other key combination?

Unfortunately there is little you can do here.
Something has caused the motor to stall

The cost of people looking at these thing and then coming back to tell you the worst is almost as high as simply replacing the camera.

Problem - Turn off and turn on again - happens repeatedly

We see this camera often because the lens gets compressed some how and the plastic gears which drive it become damaged, this would be the "buzzing" noise you're hearing during power up. The camera is not passing its power up diagnostics and therefore it shuts down. The lens is not cost effective to replace on this camera, parts and labor exceed a replacement units cost. Hope this is some help. Good Luck Joe Weibel Custom Electronics (customelectronics.org)
