I am using Express Scribe v5.20 and as of today when I plug in my headphones and get an echo with the sound coming through the laptop speakers as well. This has not happened before and the I need the laptop speakers for when I unplug the headphone speakers as I need to hear e-mails coming in (i.e. online work notifications) so cannot disable the laptop speakers. I am mystified as to why this should now happen. Not sure at all if this is an Intel problem, but you might just know what I can do! Very urgent, as typing from dictation when there is sound coming from the headphones and the laptop speakers is very distracting.

SOURCE: Realtek ALC audio driver not showing headphones

You might need the right RealTek driver for it. That will also install the RealTek control panel, which has all these extra settings for speaker selection, etc.

I hear echo sound every time i play music/movie and i cant figure out to turn it off "how"

Does it happen with headphones in as well? If not, do you have a built-in-microphone? Sometimes the sound coming of the speakers can be picked up by the microphone, resulting in an echo sound. Make sure that the microphone is off (or test it by covering it up while playing some music), and quit out of any applications that are using it.
If you hear it in the headphones as well, it could be a sound card problem, which means it would need replacing. If you don't hear it in the headphones, but hear it in the speakers and don't have a mic, it's either your speakers, or (more likely) your computer just doesn't get along with whatever software you're using to play movies/music.

Echo Problem

Try one or more steps to reduce echo:
1. In Device Settings, under Mircophone test make sure that 'Auto Adjust Audio' is checked. It automatically sets the audio and reduces echo.

2. Right click in the class window to open up the context menu. Click Settings in the menu. Macromedia Flash Player Settings window opens up. Click on microphone icon and check 'Reduce Echo' option.

3. Uncheck boost in microphone device settings.

4. Use a headset and not desktop speakers.
If a class participant (may be an attendee or a presenter) is experiencing echo then all other class participants are required to make settings at their ends. Preferably, the presenter may transfer control to the attendees one by one and identify the system generating echo.

No sound from speakers

The earplug socket in the computer is faulty, needs replacing.

What is going on is that there is a contact that the plug pushes open.
That contact for some reason is not closing when the plug is pulled out.

Voice in both headphone and laptop speaker so its worthless to us

hi!
You need to adjust a little bit lower in your master volume settings for the microphone. including the master volume.
You can find it at the buttom navigation bar If your're using windows XP. Try to adjust the settings. Your headphone had a mic therefore u need to test it until such time ur speakers will not echo.....

Please reply so that we can diagnose a better option.

Sound problem with Aspire 5570

I had the same problem with my Acer 5570 and I just fixed it. What I did is to go to Control Panel > Sounds And Audio Devices >Hardware >On Devices click on Reatek High Definition Audio >Click Properties > On Devise Usage choose the option Do not use this devise (disable) > click OK >then plug in your headphones, click on Realtek High Definition Audio properties again and click on Enable Devise **with the headphones plugged in**. It worked for me.
