I have a frigidaire wall mounted ac unit. It isnt cooling like it should be and when the motor tries to come on my lights dim and there is a humming noise for just a few seconds before the hum stops. The fan runs and will blow "cool" air but not as cool as it should be. What is my problem here? I dont know the model # for my ac unit, it is probably 8 yrs old though.

Possible you just need a good maintenance. Clean coils flush and vacuum drain check pressures amps and capacitors change batteries and filter.

SOURCE: hums and freezes up????

The fan motor must have been stopping. If the fan stops, for sure the fins will freeze because there is no air flowing. common Fan motor problems defective bearing or bushing and starting condenser. If the bearing is defective, it will heat up and seize. Have the fan motor checked. The fact that the fins are freezing, means that there is enough freon and the compressor is working.

My Frigidaire ac wall unit model FRA144HT2 has a humming sound after powering off and randomly starts humming hours after pushing the reset button

A humming sound coming from your Frigidaire AC wall unit after it has been powered off could be due to a few different reasons.
I can provide some potential explanations and troubleshooting steps to consider:
  • FAN MOTOR
  • THERMOSTATE DELAY
  • ELECTRICAL ISSUE
  • REFRIGERANT FLOW
  • OTHER MECHANICAL ISSUES

A/c will not cool

have you removeing the filter from the front of it sometimes colecting all that dust in it can cause it send only luke warm air out also if youve had it on none stop it can sometimes freeze but then letting it sit for a couple hours to a day usually solves that

Just purchased a 15000 btu 110 Frigidaire window unit and we love it. However, since the rear of the AC is actually on the back porch, the water from the AC runs down the wall and on to the floor. We could...

window units slide into an outside frame section
there is a hose attachment area at the back of the ac unit proper that a hose can be attached to
and there should be a section in the frame that allows the hose to be fitted to that ac unit proper
the unit should be mounted so that it actually slopes slightly down at the rear so water can collect at that drain point
there are adaptors that should have come in the packing box for hose attachment
if not, many people use white poly piping or electrical conduit with suitable elbows to collect the water at the hole and pipe it back to the wall into a bucket and the collected water used to water plants and gardens

57915.531 Air Conditioner- no fan or ac cooling

It sounds like the fan motor is siezed up. I would start by trying to locate a new motor for the unit. As to the who, where, or how much, I have not a clue. I deal primarily with residential, commercial and light industrial type units however, the concepts transcend across most all a/c equipment out there. If the fan outside won't turn, the unit can't get rid of the heat that it is picking up from the inside where it is doing the cooling. The heat and pressure will build up rapidly and cause unusual sounds, sometimes smells and always high amp draws (dimming of lights) until the compressor shuts off on it's internal thermal protection. When the compressor cools, it will try again and the cycle continues. Hope this helps you out some, but my main job is troubleshooting equipment that is right in front of me. I do the best I can here. Thanks, Chillmaster
