HI,

Check the Adobe website for an updated Camera Raw plug-in. Your camera model may be newer than the version of the AdobePhotoshop Camera Raw plug-in you are using. An updated version of thePhotoshop Camera Raw plug-in may be available that supports yourcamera. Download the update from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/downloads. Follow the instructions on the download page to install the plug-in to the correct directory.
To determine what version of the Camera Raw plug-in you currentlyare using, open Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and do one of thefollowing:

  • For Photoshop or Photoshop Elements on Windows, choose Help > About Plug-in > Camera Raw.
  • For Photoshop on Mac OS, choose Photoshop > About Plug-in > Camera Raw.
  • For Photoshop Elements on Mac OS, choose Photoshop Elements > About Plug-in > Camera Raw.
Note: Before you install an update to the PhotoshopCamera Raw plug-in, verify that it is compatible with your version ofPhotoshop or Photoshop Elements. Compatibility information can be foundon the Photoshop Camera Rawpage or on the download page for each version of the plug-in. Newreleases of the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in are generally onlycompatible with the current versions of Adobe products. If you use anearlier version of an Adobe product, and you use a camera that requiresa later version of the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in, you can use thelatest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your cameraraw files to DNG (Digital Negative) files. DNG files can be opened inan Adobe product that supports the Photoshop Camera Raw 2.3 plug-in orlater.
For more information about the DNG format or to download the latest version of the Adobe DNG Converter, visit the Digital Negative page on the Adobe website.

If your camera model is not currently supported by the Photoshop Camera
Raw plug-in, check the Adobe website periodically to find out if a new
version of the plug-in has been released. Because new versions of the
plug-in may also include fixes and performance enhancements.
For a list of models supported by the current version of the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in, visit the Photoshop Camera Raw page on the Adobe website.

Please don't forget to rate or accept the solution as fixya.

It may be that your system is set to open CR.2 files with canon DPP and you can change this with preferences.
Also, you may need to update your Adobe software (CS/ACR) to be able to read the 5D files if it even still supports the 5D.
Older versions of PS will NOT open newer Raw files but I'm unsure if CS supports the 5D. You will need to check their site for supported cameras and then upload the latest ACR updates for CS

How do I change the pictures I have already taken from Raw to JPEG on my Canon Rebel t2i?

To change RAW to Jpeg you need to use the software that came with the camera (Digital Photo Professional) or Photoshop or Lightroom. It can't be done in-camera.

Unknowly i put the camera adjustment to RAW and i couldnot save those pictures in PC or in note book thanks in previous

.raw is just another photo format, there are ususally plugins/drivers for both paint shop pro and photoshop element to view .raw files and then save them as something else.
For instance Windows XP has a downloadable .raw viewer:

Does a photographer need to install anything more than the photoshop component of CS4?

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, and Adobe Acrobat are the main programs I use as a photographer. Photoshop for particular editing, bridge to organize my photos and to use camera raw, and acrobat to create PDFs and other document styles for clients.

Can,t get my photos into photoshop elements, camera new fuji hs10. it says file damaged or in wrong format. the file or photo ends in raf, hope that helps, i have unloaded the finepix software. steve

.raf is Fuji's raw format. Are you shooting in raw on purpose? If so, Photoshop Elements 8 or Adobe Lightroom 3 can open them. Otherwise, shoot jpeg from now on.

Took extraordinary pictures with nikon d40 but can't edit them

You have your camera set to RAW format. It is not a compressed file, it is a full size file. Opening this in editing programs will either crash your computer or will refuse to open because of the size of the file. They are not damaged but your computer cannot handle the files. You should take them to a photo shop and have them put the files on a cd and consult your manual to change your camera to JPEG format.

RAW images won't upload

Are you using the camera to upload the photos? I recommend that you get a SDHC reader(USB) and copy the files off of the SD card onto your harddrive. it is a common problem that RAW images cannot be read by windows or certain programs. Photoshop CS3 and later are able to read and open the RAW images from this camera if your "camera raw" portion of adobe is current. it is good practice anyway to load your photos directly from the SD card. I had a G9 since it first came out and now i have a G10--i have never even attempted to upload from the camera. don't let this discourage you from shooting RAW because it is the primary reason in my opinion for owning a G9 or G10. Let me know if this does not answer your problem...dj

Photos taken with canon 5d with both raw & jpeg formats. When I open Adobe bridge the photos are displayed as _mg_0133.cr2 and _mg_0133.jpeg. The jpegs can be viewed and opened, but I can't open the cr2...

If you have the 5D Mark II (the latest version,) the raw converter in Photoshop CS3 does not support the format. If you have the earlier version of lthe 5D, download the latest raw converter update from Adobe (free}

If you have the Mark II you can do one of three things to continue using Photoshop:

1. Upgrade to CS4. The latest update for it's raw converter supports the 5D Mark II.

2. Download the Adobe DNG Converter when 5.2 version becomes available and convert your cr2 files to the DNG format which CS3 can read. In the past this has been available as a free download form Adobe, but it's not currently on their site.

3. Use the raw converter that came with your camera.

Can't open img prefix cr2 suffex files with abobe bridge or cs3

Hi there,
You say the problem only just began. What has happened to Photoshop in between it working and not, ie, any upgrades, updates, installs, etc? This will no doubt reveal the answer to your conundrum. Get PS to check for updates then do them all, especially any referencing Camera RAW updates.

The next thing you will want to check is that the image files are ok. Download the latest Canon image viewer from here. You can also download the drivers directly from the canon site. Just click the link at the bottom of the page.

All the best
