I have a garmin 192c equipped with a gsd 21 sounder module. The dip lay keeps saying "sonar turned off." I sent the module off for repairs, but when I got it back and tried to reinstall it, it is doing the same thing. Can you help?

SOURCE: Globalmap 2000 sonar not responding

Not enough info to diagnose your problem. It sounds like a networking problem. I couldn't find a manual for the sam-st module so I'm not sure how you have it hooked up. Typically with these devices only one would be hooked up to the SONAR module, and it would then share the data with the other display via an ethernet or NMEA2000 network. The erratic behavior of your bluewater could be due to some sort conflict with the current coming from the GlobalMap2000. Do you get the same problem when the 2000 is turned off? Have you tried running the GlobalMap2000 with the bluewater turned off?

SOURCE: unable to track the bottom

I think you need to level the transducer. You have it pointed way out in front of you so that when you're going fast it is able to bounce the signal off the bottom and it comes back to where the boat has traveled to. When you're going slow you're bouncing it out in front of you but it comes back up in front of you. Sorry but I can't find a picture of a Garmin transducer. Hope this helps.

Yes. It sounds as if You need to contact garmin or a sports store that sells this device in your area and purchase the software to update your machine.

Garmin 100 echo stays in simulate mode. Is there a setting to change it to live mode?

1 turn off the simulator in the menu.

if that does not work

2. Check the connection to the transducer, if it is unhooked or corroded, clean and reattach the connector, the unit will stay in simulator mode if it does not detect a transducer attached to it

I have a Garmin 182c with a garmin GSD20 sounder unit ,if my transducer wire is cut or nicked would it cause the unit to unit to read " sonar turned off" ?

If you nicked it good enough yes it can. If the receiver doesn't detect the transducer, a digital message on the display will indicate this.

Sounder not working

Interference like that is usually caused by electrical noise. Does it happen when everything else on the boat is turned off? If the answer is no, then you can isolate the source of the interference by turning things on one at time. Follow your transducer cable and make sure it has not been damaged or altered in any way.

Also make sure that your gain is set to auto

The GSD 21 has an LED indicator light on it. If it detects a malfunction the LED will flash in distinct colors or patterns. In the troubleshooting section of the owners manual there is a list that explains what each flash pattern means.

GSD 20 power problem

I'm not sure what you mean by "cannot get the sounder to power up". Are you not getting power to theGSD20, or are you not getting the sounder to display on the screen? I can probably help you with this but I need some more information.

If you are getting power to the GSD 20 sounder, it will have a flashing LED next to the cables that plug into the GSD 20 box. What color is it and what is the flash pattern (how many flashes, and fast or slow?) When you power up the GSD20 does the color or flash pattern change.

I'll watch for your response here.
