Cybershot won't take pictures

I have a sony cybershot, model DSC-W55. when i press the power on button, the camera does not turn on as it usualy does. instead, i get a black screen with the word Access on it. (also, when i turn the camera on, the lenses keep going in and out more frequently than before.) so the screen Access screen is just there right now, but when i click buttons like menu or display it makes beeping noises and it says 'press power on and off again '. i can still view the pictures i've taken but can't seem to TAKE the pictures.. HELP ME PLS! i've had this camera for only 3 months :(

SOURCE: i have a sony cybershot,

You can try contacting Sony - maybe through online chat if its available for free. From what you have described, it sounds like a hardware failure. Contact Sony, and if it is a hardware failure, they will replace it for free. Or, if you have bought it from a big retailer (i.e. bestbuy, futureshop, etc.), you can try asking them for an exchange for a new camera. They will send it the old, broken camera into Sony for you and replace the camera with a new one. Just make sure to take out your memory card first (don't wanna lost all those pictures in there).

Hope this helps,
Eric

My Sony cybershot dsc-w55 won't take pictures! I

Your lens is stuck due to either being banged or bumped or there is dirt/grit inside the lens gears. The lens needs to be replaced, but buying a brand new lens is out of the question. Sony will charge $125 just for the lens assembly, it's crazy.

A refurb lens can be installed for about $75 including return shipping. You should check the replacement cost of a used camera and see which is cheaper in the long run.

Hope this helps!
