How do I connect my onkyo tx-sr705 to a pyle pro speaker selector? I am "not" using the onkyo for a surround sound, only for music with 3 pairs of speakers in different rooms. (CD, Sirrus Radio...which I need help with as well) What do I use to connect the 2 together? I understand on the selector but the onkyo has all of the surround stuff and Zone 2...where do I connect the speaker wire to the selector? Thank you! DD

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR705 Muting Problem

if what Dark_Orbit said does not work try doing a master reset by ressing and holding the dvr/vcr button and stand by button simultaneously. This would erase all your assignments so you would need to reassign all your sources hooked up to your onkyo.

SOURCE: How do I connect my outside speakers to play?

The onkyo should still have a speaker A/B selector in the menu.
Check on the back panel for speaker A/B.
If it has or you decide to use Zone 2 you will need to set the sound programme to "stereo" so the rears and centre do not work.
You can still use a digital source.
You should be able to display the amp's menu on the screen.
Hook up "monitor out" (Yellow) via RCA connector to one of the "A/V inputs" (yellow) on the tv, this will show you a display of the menu and will make it eaiser to navigate.

Hello Fixya team, I need help!

To set up your home theater system with the equipment you mentioned, follow these steps:
  1. Connect the Onkyo receiver to the NEC TV using an HDMI cable. Make sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to the correct input for the Onkyo receiver.
  2. Connect the Panasonic DVD player to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  3. Connect the Firestick Lite to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  4. Connect the Panasonic speakers to the Onkyo receiver using speaker wires. Make sure you connect the speakers to the correct speaker terminals on the receiver, which are usually labeled with the speaker's position (e.g. front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right).
  5. Configure the Onkyo receiver to use the correct input for each device. For example, set the input to "DVD" when you want to watch a movie on the Panasonic DVD player, or set the input to "Firestick" when you want to watch content on the Firestick Lite.
  6. Configure the audio settings on the Onkyo receiver to use the correct audio format for your content. For example, if you are watching a movie with Dolby Digital surround sound, make sure the receiver is set to decode Dolby Digital audio.
  7. Adjust the volume and other audio settings on the Onkyo receiver as needed to optimize the sound quality.
Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to enjoy surround sound audio from your Panasonic speakers through the Onkyo receiver.

The surround speakers are connected to my Onkyo TX DS575X but no sound is coming from them. Same with the center. Any ideas?

There will be no sound unless a Dolby Pro Logic or similar audio signal is in use. CD/DVD, broadcast etc.

ONKYO TX-SR701 - Hi When using the speaker config I can get output from all speakers but the Surround back speaker R does not work. I do get sound from Surround back L. It's a bit confusing as the...

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

7.1 would have Surround Back L and R.

6.1 would have just one back there (SB). It defaults to the Left output on the Pre-Outs if you ever go that route.

This being a 6.1 receiver it does not support two SB channels BUT you can configure those amp channels for a separate Zone supporting 2 speakers. Confused?

The manual shows a single SB speaker connected to the left side on Page 27. THAT would be consistent with a 6.1 configuration.

We wired our new home to have outdoor speakers and also speakers to our pool room. Before putting the receiver back into place after wiring the back, we quickly touched a speaker's wires to the wires...

It's not really clear if all of this is Zone 2 or not, or if you intend a second program to play in Zone 2.

If your Zone 2 is to a powered amplifier and its speakers the Zone 2 output would be FIXED (not variable from the host TX-SR705), that is, at a level that the receiving amplifier would control.

Page 99 deals with it.

Having just passive speakers in Zone 2 requires you to set Zone 2 to "ACT(ive)".

Only the front speakers work none of the surround speakers

If you are still covered by the warrenty, then you may be able to get it fixed at no cost.

Otherwise get a qualified technician (I say this to cover my but rather than suggesting that you open it up yourself) to open it up and check the fuses inside.
