My Kenmore Coldspot Model 106.59592990 side by side refridgerator mfg in 11/1999 is extremely hot to the touch on the face of the center column where the 2 doors meet when closed. The rubber seal that contacts the center column when the doors are closed has even given off a slight burning rubber smell, that's how hot it is getting. Last night, I noticed the melted food on the freezer side, so I increased the setting on the freezer from 4 to 7. This morning, the column feels much cooler. Sounds like possibly a condenser issue, fan issue, coil issue. I've recently cleaned the coils with a vacuum from the front, with no improvement. What next?

Model number is not valid check plate inside refrigerator. Usually Sears Kenmore start with 3 digit model number like 590.xxxxxxxx, and usually have characters that tell u what characteristics the model has and what color scheme.

I have a Kenmore Coldspot Model #69207990 and have the same problem. Water from the freezer drains into the refridgerator onto the shelves and sheets of ice form. A repairman pointed out that the tube leading down from the freezer onto the drain pan was frozen. By pouring hot water down the tube, he reopened this drain line. Problem solved for six months and the drain line froze again. My question is how to stop this drain line from freezing up again.

in most cases its the cooling fan at the back near the compressor clean all the blades allowing full amount of cool air to pass over heating coils

Likely the cooling fan has died. This happened on my unit. The fan is visible from underneath on the rear left side. Use a flashlight to see if it is spinning. I used a broom handle to tap it and it started to run, which cooled the metal you found hot. I ordered the part on line and replaced it. Heating problem went away.

TAKE THE BACK COVER OFF THE REFRIGERATOR. SET UP A COOLING FAN TO COOL COMPRESSOR. YOUR CONDENSOR FAN MOTOR HAS STOPPED WORKING.

you need to check if the compresser is red hot if so change the relay to a 3 and 1 overload relay very easy to in stall
trick put a floor fan pointed at the compresser let it run a while see if you notice a difference

Ice maker leaking

yes go to sears parts center and buy the ice maker part # 4317943 thats if the ice maker is in line is leaking because the mold inside is peeling off due to the wtr being to hard repl ice maker is realy easy loosen screws remove harness and repl new one that is all you might not need all parts in box

There is an electric heater in the center which is called a mullion heater. If you have an energy saver switch on your model turn it to the saving position.

Are you installing a ice maker kit? If the ice maker is already installed all you have to do is connect it to the potable water supply in the back of the refrigerator and lower the bail arm to put it into operation.
