84yamaha fj1100 20,000 miles. Everything ran well when i bought it a couple weeks ago, then it didnt start for about 3 days straight and one morning it fired right up. i had a tender attached cause i kept turning her over till the battery died and id go back to work. when it started, i rode it the day after for like 3 hours and rode great...i left the lights on twice for about 10 mins each...just kept forgetting to turn key off...it started up, i drove 10 miles or so to grocery store, and came out and it just clicked. i pushed started it and got home, now nothing but clicking..was told it was the starter solenoid, and bought a "universal". didnt match up in the slightest....im no mechanic...im a chef. when trying to start , solenoid is clicking...when i removed it i saw a spark...then disconected battery...duh..I know..put it back in and tried again and now the relay clicks...then nothing at all...thats where im at.
im broke and cant afford a shop..but also cant afford to buy random parts i dont need...plz help.

Inspect all wiring for flaws and corrosion-new relay will probly help-its up by the batt-new brushes in alternator also--have battery tested--buy a clymer manual

First, I've had a motorcycle for almost 50 years and have never drained the gas. At one point it was not used for 3 years. It started, I added gas and it ran fine.
Second, next time you are running the machine and it begins to stall, immediately loosen the gas cap. If it starts to run good again, drill out the air vents on the cap.

I`m positive you have a bad head gasket.I just did one for a friend of mine that had the same problem on his Buick Rondevous.Same motor.These are good motors but they have a tendency to blow the head gaskets.It is usually the back one for the #1 cylinder.Hope this helps.Good luck.
