Cannot transfer files to Rio MP3 from Windows 7 PC. Rio shows "waiting" when hooked up to the PC via the USB cable.

SOURCE: Downloading itune files to Rio MP3

No - iTunes files are AAC format, which Rio will not accept. Sorry.

SOURCE: Rio forge causes external hard drive to fail

not sure but when i plug in mine, it also shows another USB drive labeled as if it also were linked to the Rio player when it is most certainly not. ...maybe a manufacture or firmware error?

What you need:
- newests audio drivers in Windows 7 (updated audio-drivers)
- audio cable 3,5 M (male) both ends M-M (male-male)
- freeware application Audacity for Windows (with LAME)

Howto step by step:
- one end of audio cable connect to dictaphon's headset (earphones) jack in recorder Sony IC RECORDER ICD BX-800
- other end of audio cable connect to PC/notebook microphone (or LINE IN)
- nothing special setup (adjust) regarding Audio in Windows 7, the device for record Audio keep Microphone (default)
- in Audacity set very little volume "Input Volume Slider" and "Output Volume Slider" (for example both 0,1)
- in Audacity like Input Device set "Input (Audio device High Definition Audio)": !Don't set in Audacity like Input Device "Microphone"!
- Audio Host: MME
- Output Device set "Speakers (Audio device)"
- Input Channels set "2 (Stereo) Input"
- Sampling (Hz) set 44100

Purchased a Polaroid x800 camera and can not transfer photos to computer (and I have tried 3 computers - 2 running XP Pro and 1 running Windows 7). Upon connecting the USB cable it shows up as a removable...

Just did this with my daughter and it worked:

1. Turn PC on.
2. Plug camera cable into Camera.
3. Plug camera cable USB end into computer USB port.
4. Turn on Camera... wait until camera show message 'USB, PC, Pictbridge'.
5. PC should be selected if not select by highlighting and press shutter button.
6. Press 'Shutter' button.
7. Window 'Autoplay' appears on PC. Select 'import' in Autoplay window.
8. Another window will ask you to name your picture folder. Give it a name.
9. The pictures download to the picture folder automatically.
10. Turn the camera off and disconnect cable from camera and from the PC
11. ENJOY!!

How can i get itunes to download on my phillips gogear 4gb?

Transfer music via Windows Media Player 10:
  1. Hook up your GoGear with the PC via the supplied USB cable.
  2. Make sure you connect your GoGear micro also to the main power supply.
  3. Launch the version of Windows Media Player 10.0 installed in your computer. Note: Once the device is connected to the computer, all playback or radio will stop.
  4. Check and make sure that the Create folder hierachy on device option is enabled in Windows Media Player. Go to Tools>Options. Select the Devices tab and then highlight GoGear Audio and click Properties

    Click OK to close the windows.
  5. Click Sync.
  6. In the Items to Copy pane, in the drop-down list, click the playlist, category, or other item that you want to copy.
  7. Click the check boxes next to any files you want to copy.
  8. In the Items on Device pane, in the drop-down list, click to select PhilipsGoGear to copy files to.
  9. Click the Start Sync 051028091952_1760.gif button.
  10. The Player verifies that there is sufficient storage space on the device to copy the selected files. If there is sufficient space, the files are converted (if necessary) and copied to the portable device.
  11. Repeat steps 2-5 for any other items that you want to copy to your portable device.
  12. Once the transfer is completed, close the Windows Media Player
  13. Unplug the GoGear from the PC and enjoy the music on your GoGear.
Transfer music via Windows Explorer:
Note! You cannot transfer pictures via Windows Explorer, for pictures use Windows Media Player.


  1. Connect your GoGear with the PC via the supplied USB cable. Make sure you connect your GoGear also to the main power supply.
  2. Launch Windows Explorer.
  3. Drag and drop your music files into the music folder of your GoGear.

  4. Once transfer is complete unplug the GoGear from the PC and enjoy the music on the go.

Hello,
Try to transfer the tracks from the explorer.
1 Connect the Rio Carbon to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
2 Double-click My Computer on the Windows Desktop or in the Start Menu.
3 Locate MP3 or WMA audio files on the computer.
4 Highlight files and/or folders to transfer to the Rio Carbon.
5 Click Edit.
6 Click Copy.
7 Double-click My Computer on the Windows Desktop or in the Start Menu to open another window.
8 In the new window, locate the Rio Carbon (X:) icon that is associated with the Rio Carbon. (X equals the drive
letter assigned to the Rio Carbon.)
9 Double-click Rio Carbon (X:).
10Click Edit.
11Click Paste.

  3. Launch Windows Media Player 10.

Tranfer from player to computer?

Go to Main Menu -> Settings -> Advanced -> Transfer Mode and select MSC. Worked for me.

PC-RIO600 MP3 Player dcable

Sadly, you need a specific cable (Non standard) in order to transfer files - The cable has three prongs and connects where the headphones socket is.
Even then, the chances are that you won't find software compatible with Windows Vista in order to use it.
