Your problem is your internet speed dropping in my opinion. You can try to reset your modem by turning or unplugging it off for 60 seconds the turn on and wait for all of its lights to return.

Make sure UPnP is enabled on the PS3 and Router.
Place the PS3 in the DMZ of the router or find the appropriate ports to forward to the PS3's connecting IP (set to static in the PS3 if you have it setting dynamicly in the PS3 for either)

yeah im having the same problem, i assume its to do with the new 3.41 patch people have said they can't even upgrade their hdd's anymore sony will probably fix this with a patch, i have a 500gb ps3 load times ont he xmb are slow takes longer than it did, best answer i can give you is the new patch is the problem, not your system or model so dont worry once sony figures it out then we can all breathe better
There is lots of hacker software out there that stresses the servers, I know I have played many games.
I would suggest getting the best added software to help to keep this from happenning.
Also check your network, if its slower than normal at times, like 5PM-9PM every one is on playing games at the same time!
I had the same problem playing Combat Arms online untill I got game booster than no more freezes unless I am in a room with many, many hackers.
i believe there is an option in the option menu which asks which type of internet connection you are going to be utilizing. make sure it is set for ethernet. hope this helps. health and happiness to you and yours
First you need to find a Windows wired or wireless device already connected to the network in order to find out the required settings
Windows XP 1. Click start --> (sometimes settings) --> Control Panel --> Network Connections 2. Double click on the active connection which will say connected underneath 3. Click Support 4. Click Details 5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.
Windows Vista 1. Click Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Sharing Center 2. Click on "View Status" to the right of your connection 4. Click Details 5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.
Set these values under "manual settings" in the PS3 but add 1 to the last number for the IP Address as this has to be unique on your network
