The driver for my dvd-rw dvrkd08rs ata device claims to be missing (but an attempt to update resulted in "you have latest driver installed") or corrupted. I suspect the latter. What do I do

go to the device manager - delete or remove it. Let PnP reinstall it.

Have www.pcpitstop.com do a free scan of your computer. You will get more information on your computer operation and status than you could know.

It is free - u have nothing to loose.

Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111d instruction manual

The manual likely is at the Pioneer website. But why do you need it? These drives stick in your computer pretty easily, and only function if you have a good DVD burning program installed. Did it come with an installation CD? Your burning program may be on that. If you run into trouble, just call Pioneer--they owe it to you.
