Syncing my itouch with itunes

If you've set up automatic syncing, iTunes syncs your device by default whenever you connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer. If you don't want iTunes to sync your device without being prompted, you can change this setting.

You can prevent unprompted syncing for any specific iPod, iPhone, or iPad; or for all iPod, iPhone, or iPad devices you connect to your computer.

To prevent unprompted syncing for a specific iPod, iPhone, or iPad:

1. Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
   

2. In iTunes, select your device (below Devices).
   

3. Click Summary, and then deselect "Open iTunes when this Device is connected."
   

To prevent unprompted syncing for all iPod, iPhone, and iPad devices:

1. 
   

   In iTunes, choose Edit > Preferences.
   

2. Click Devices.
   

3. Select "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically."
   

   If this checkbox is selected, any connected iPod, iPhone, or iPad won't sync without being prompted.
   

To sync your iPod, iPhone, or iPad when unprompted syncing is disabled, connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer, and then choose File > Sync "Device Name" in iTunes, or click your device (below Devices) and then click Sync.

• Connect your IPOD Touch to iTunes
• Press or Hold the power and home keys 10 seconds.
  
• Screen goes black, now release the power button
• Make sure you do not release the Home key until your iTunes says "We have detected an itouch in recovery mode."
• After this its simple all you got to do is a simple restore using your itunes

Syncing music manually If you prefer not to automatically sync music content to your iPod, you can set up manual syncing.

1. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
2. Select iPod in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window.
3. In the main iTunes browser window, select the Summary tab.
4. Select the option to "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music." This will deselect the automatic sync settings for the Music, Movies, and TV Shows tabs. Automatic syncing for Podcasts, Photos, Contacts, and Games can be individually disabled by selecting those options in each of those tabs. Note: When manually managing iPod, disk use is enabled and iPod must always be manually ejected in iTunes before disconnecting it from your computer.
5. Click Apply.
6. To manually add music, audiobooks, movies or TV shows to your iPod, choose one of these categories under Library on the top-left of the iTunes window.
7. Select and drag items you want (to choose multiple items, Command-click items on a Mac or Control-click items in Windows), then drag them onto your iPod icon under Devices.
8. To add a playlist, select it from the left side of the iTunes window and drag it onto your iPod in the same way.
9. When you are ready to disconnect your iPod, select it under Devices and click the eject icon next to it.

To get songs to sync from itunes,with itunes open and ipod connected click on name of your ipod on left side.When screen comes up showing your ipod click on music at top then put check in box to sync music,choose what to sync,click sync.

does your touch mount onto iTunes?
if not try a USB 2.0 connection.
the newer iphones and itouch only work with a USB 2.0 port

when you sync the iPhone with the computer, iTunes will only add what is new, it will not delete your apps.

Setting Up Syncing You use iTunes on your computer to set up which items are synced. Make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes (On a PC, open iTunes and choose Help > Check for Updates. On a Mac, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Check for Updates.
Step 1: Connect iPhone or iPod touch

1. Connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer using the included cable. You can connect the cable from your computer directly to iPhone or iPod touch, or connect the cable from your computer to the Apple Universal Dock (available separately) and put iPhone or iPod touch in the dock. By default, iTunes opens automatically.
2. Select iPhone or iPod touch in iTunes under Devices on the left hand side and click the Info tab.

Step 2: Set Up Which Items Are Synced Click the respective tabs in iTunes to specify which media and information you want synced from your computer to iPhone or iPod touch.

Step 3: Sync iPhone or iPod touch Click Apply in the lower-right corner of the screen. Your computer syncs with iPhone or iPod touch according to your settings.
The first time you sync iPhone or iPod touch, you are asked if you want to merge data, replace data on the service, or replace the data on your computer. After that, anytime you connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer, iTunes opens and syncs with iPhone or iPod touch according to your settings.
You can adjust sync settings anytime iPhone or iPod touch is connected to your computer. You can only connect and sync with one iPhone or iPod touch at the same time. If you need to sync more than one iPhone or iPod touch, disconnect one before connecting the other.
Note: Syncing won't delete any contact in Yahoo! Address Book that contains a Messenger ID, even if you've deleted the contact from your address book on iPhone or your computer. To delete a contact containing a Messenger ID, log in to your Yahoo! account online and delete the contact using Yahoo! Address Book.

Hey, Id be happy to help :). Actually there is a way to have all the stuff on your Ipod touch to be in your computer. Although you can't those things on your computer by syncing it because your computer obviously won't let you. What you must do is, in your itunes program on your computer select Itunes store, and on the side you will see the option to sign in, now you must sign in with your apple or aol account. Once you are signed in, just go up to the top of the Itunes program where it says File, edit, view, etc . But up there you will see the "store" tab. Click on it, and under it you will see the "check for available downloads.." option. Click on it and a history of things you got of itunes with your account will pop up . You can view this history by clicking the "purchased" tab on the side bar of your Itunes program, if you click on it it will have listed, your apps, your bible, etc and it should be ( currently ) downloading every single item under there. :) After this, it will have all the things you ever got down in Itunes on your computer/itunes library. So now you can erase your Ipod touch and then you can plug it into your computer and sync all the stuff You have on there. Although, wait and see if you computer downloads all the things you have ever gotten before you erase your Ipod. make sure that your itunes isn't set for manual music managemnet

when it says syncing, try to click the little x next to it on itunes. this will be at the top.

• Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.

How to restore your iPod:
For Windows:

• 1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
• 2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
• 3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes.
• 4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
• 5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
  • Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
  • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
  • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
  • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
• 6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
• 7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
• 8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
