Any modem with an ethernet connection on it will work well with this router.
Choose the ISP and package that best suits your needs, and the ISP will give you the best modem for their service.

L cannot get internet when connected to my router, but l get internet when connected to modem directly.

Your ISP allows only one device to connect to their network.
When you change devices (router versus computer),
you need to power-off the ISP's modem, and unplug it.
Connect the router to the modem, and connect your computer to your router.
Plug the modem back in, and the modem will "forget" what device was previously connected.

I keep getting...error code 52130...cannot make a connection..i use an apple extreme base station...it has connected in the past

Error Code: 52130 There appears to be an issue with your wireless router's firewall.

  1. Make sure your router is not listed on our "known incompatible routers" page, by clicking here.

  2. Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings:
    1. On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run."
    2. Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window.
    3. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.
    4. Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. Try to connect the Wii console online and test for proper response.

  3. Disabling your router's wireless security may help the Wii console's online connection. Consult your wireless router's manual or check with the router manufacturer for more details. Please note Nintendo provides these recom mendations as a resource to our consumers; it is up to each consumer to determine if adjusting their router's security settings are the right choice for their home network.

  4. It is possible that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is not compatible with the Wii console. For instance, if you need to login with a user name and password when you try to go online for the first time after restrarting your PC, your ISP is likely not compatible. Please contact your service provider for more information.

Have two computers but only one will get internet access

The tech is right, you can only have 1 modem on your residential line. The 2-wire router/modem should
have 4 ports in back to share with other computers AND a wireless signal too. You can run an
ethernet cable to your bedroom or get an adapter (either USB or PCI card) to connect to your router and
share the modem. If you go wireless, the 2-wire router is by default an encrypted signal. The password
is on the sticker, usually all numbers. Look at manual for changing configuration.

Reset the modem while the router is plugged into it. Do this by disconnecting the power to the modem and then reconnecting.

Problems with D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 Wireless Router?

Check the manual how to save the router configuration. If you do not care about saving the settings than:
-Try removing the router at all and check your speed and performance on all computers while directly connected to cable modem (I beleive you have cable) this way you would tell if its your router of computer. If you still think its router than:
Try Resetting the router. At the back of your router there is a small hole, try depressing it with a pin for about 5 or 6 seconds. This will give it all default values. Read the manual of the router to go back into it and reset IP's, DHCP, DNS etc.
Make sure your computers have NO VIRUS as well as SPYWARE, I would recomment installing windows defender on your computers if your OS is windows?
-Also note that there is a page on router configuration page where you can divert certain traffic, open certain ports etc on a particular computer.
-Also try to use good quality ethernet cables which are connected from your router to the computers. and the cable which comes out from modem to the router. I recommend Cat5 does the magic most of the times.
I am generalizing the answer, hope that helped!

Cannot connect to internet through DI-524

After you've rebooted your wireless router...make sure you reboot the cable-company (or DSL) modem while the router is connected to it and on. The modem seems to recognize the router properly only in this way.

Simply unplug the power to the cable-modem and plug it in again.
If the cable-modem has a battery back-up you'll want to remove that as well.
