First I would reset all settings back to the defaults and then go from there.

From photo mode, press Menu, then move to the right to select the wrenches icon. Scroll all the way down to "Reset All" and push "Func/Set". Then one push to the right, and press "Func/Set" again.

Hopefully this will do the trick!

Want to know if my G9 has a date stamp option

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Hi I have a Conon Powershot G9. I can take photos fine however I can't get the camera to focus when taking video. Is ther a setting I can use to solve this? Thanks.

I'm not sure what would be causing your problem but try emailing the site: www.camerasandparts.com Their email should be on the site. They just specialize in service for these models and they are wonderful if you need some help with one of these cameras. They know these cameras really well since that is all they deal with so I'm sure they've seen your problem many times before. There is also a common no power problem that can happen on yours. If it hasn't happened yet you should consider having the correction performed to the screws inside of the camera to prevent the problem from occurring. Lots of G9's have the no power problem, that site is wonderful since they correct the problem with their service so you won't have that short happen. On your focus video thing, email them as it's probably just a setting. I'm sure they'll help you with it since it's probably a simple fix or a setting that can be solved by email. Good luck with the problem.

My canon g9 photo shot camera totaly dead board not working properly

Your camera most likely has a short from some screws that get loose inside of these cameras. There's a really good place that only services Canon Powershots. They are not expensive at all and they do wonderful work. It's $89 with them for parts, labor servicing for the camera included. If you're in the states, they give you the free Priority Shipping going back too which is nice. One of the neat things with them is that not only do they do wonderful work, they include the no power correction on any G9 they service, that way the problem doesn't keep happening. The website for them is: www.camerasandparts.com If you have a Canon Powershot, they're great for help with these cameras. Best of luck with the problem.

Canon g9 communication error

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

With my cano powershot sd960 is i cannot seem to adjust the ISO speed. when in the portrait, kids/pets, settings i press the funct set button to get my list of different options . i can see "ISO Auto" on...

When using the programmed modes, like portrait, kids, etc. you cannot set the ISO speed manually. The reason for this is because in those modes you are asking the camera "can you please set ideal settings (ISO, shutter speed, aperture, etc.) in order to capture a great image in this situation?" You can only set ISO levels when using programmed (P) mode where you can set ISO, white balance, etc.

My Canon PowerShot G9 won't turn on.

You probably have a loose screw in the camera which caused a short and no power. It's a common thing on your camera until corrected. Try this website: www.camerasandparts.com They just specialize in the canon powershots and they're wonderful if you need help with this problem. The great thing with them is they do a correction inside the camera so the problem doesn't happen again. If you have a canon, they're the place for help with these cameras.

Canon G9 Flash not firing and not able to find flash on the menu

Assuming there's not really a fault on the camera. Have you got it dialed into a pre-set photo option ? This may negate the flash. Suggest going through the settings menu, putting everything to auto and trying again.

I'm unable to download photos from the disk.

You may be saving the images in the RAW format, which requires matching software to read. Most kiosks can't read them. If this is the case, switch back to jpeg format.
