Playback of audio files does not resume where I left off when powering back on
I have a Sansa e250v2. When listening to audio books and then pausing followed by powering off, I would expect the audio book to resume where I left off when I power on again. Instead the audio book will start at the beginning of the chapter without giving me the option of "play previous". For audio books a chapter could be 1.5 hours. What adds to the frustration is that when I try to fast forward or "scan" to the correct place that I left off, it will typically either go to the next chapter or bring me to the music menu. This usually occurs while holding the fast forward speed starts increasing. In the past I had a Sansa e250 where I didn't have this problem. Is there a way to fix the problems of 1)resume where I left off or at least having a functional "play previous" option when I power on2)fast forwarding jumping to next chaper or music menu
Re: Playback of audio files does not resume where I left...
I have an e260. I use it for audiobooks a lot. I just press pause (centre top of the dial), and the track will resume from there next time (unless I go back to the main menu for radio of course.)

I have just discovered that if you pause the player and then let it shut off on its own then press pause again later to wake up the unit and again it will pick up where you were. Now, I don't know if it uses any battery life when it's sleeping so will just have to experiment there. But the key here seems to be NOT actually turning it off. Turning it off will reset it to song #1 every single time. Which is really obnoxious.
A little known feature on this player is the ability to use bookmarks, up to 10 of them. Many of you listen to podcasts or audio books which may be fairly lengthy and if you have to stop in the middle of what ever you're listening to, normally when you go back to your player you would have to start all over again.<br /><br />A note about <span style="font-style: italic;">"resuming playback":</span> If you shutdown during playback of a podcast or audio book (not pausing or stopping playback first) your Zen will automatically resume playback when you start it back up.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Zen V Plus Bookmarking</span><br /><br />You can insert bookmarks during playback. Hi,
There are two ways to delete files on your Sansa player. You can delete them from the player directly or using a PC.
METHOD 1 - Delete files directly on the device For View, Fuze, Clip, e200v2, and c200v2 only: 1. In playback mode, press the Submenu button. 2. Select Delete.
METHOD 2 - Delete files using a PC For all other Sansa players: 1. Connect your device to the PC. 2. Select Open device to view files using Windows Explorer on initial connection. 3. Locate the folder where your files are stored. 4. Click to select the files you want deleted and delete the files
I use a Creative Zen V Plus, but have a similar problem.
First, an explanation: the issue is probably with the timecode in the audio track. This can happen when the audio file is created on a computer. The audiobook was likely "ripped" to a file from the original audiobook CD, and your player may not like the format the file is in. The best solution in this case is to recreate the audio files yourself. First remove all of the files from your Sansa for that particular book. Then use CD-burning software on your computer to create an audio CD (not a data CD!) from the files you got from the library. Finally, use the software that came with your Sansa to transfer the audio CD back to your Sansa. This way you know you are getting a correct format on your player.
If you have an additional issue (like me) where the tracks are too long and go back to the beginning every time you turn your player off, you may have to use an audio editor such as Audacity to chop the long tracks up into smaller tracks, but this is quite time consuming. It is best to acquire audiobooks in smaller tracks in the first place. This is the problem I have been faced with while using Audible.com to listen to audiobooks.
Spoken Word Browse the Audible audio book file in alphabetical order. Press the Play/Pause/Up Button or Repeat/AB/Down Button to browse through the audible audio files. Press the Select Button to browse the songs for the selected file.
Unfortunately, there is not a way, even with a firmware upgrade. This is the #1 criticism of this particular Sansa player - there's no bookmarking feature, making this absolutely lousy for audiobooks.
This player will only recognize Audible audiobook files
There is not a fix for the pause/resume issue - it is a major problem for just about every mp3 player that claims audiobook compatibility
