Nikon d80 dslr camera working fine and then one day turned it on to take pictures only to find an err message flashing and when the shutter button depressed it says r04. The shutter sounds but no pictures are taken. Is this a problem inside the camera that will have to be fixed by a professional? Also tried charging the battery and charger says the full charge is complete but when put into the camera it does not show a complete charge in the battery info. Please help don't want to send my camera off for repairs.

HiI am sorry to hear, but you will have to some professional. Regarding your d80 has common problem of sequence unit defective. I believe that is the problem and your local repair shop would charge around $75 to 235 depend on what they really want to charge. Thanks and best regard!

When I turn on nikon d80 err flashes

The Nikon D-90 users manual says on page 256 that the ERR message indicates a camera malfunction and that it can be cleared by releasing the shutter.

I've found on my D-90 that the only way I can get the shutter to release is my turning the camera off. When I turn it back on the ERR message is gone and the camera functions as it should.

Occasionally, I have had to remove and reinstall the battery to make the camera turn off but this happens only rarely.

The users manual says if the condition occurs frequently or persists that you should contact a Nikon authorized repair center. I suggest that you contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon.com to see what they suggest. I think this information would apply to the D-80 as well.

The r05 is not an error message. It is an indication that the camera is shooting in burst mode (multiple shots with one button push) and that you can shoot five more shots before the camera must pause, clean its cache and be prepared to shoot again.

Nikon d80 camera shows err error, when shutter is pressed the amount of shots remaining, shows er07. shutter works, but no picture is taken. Bracketing sign is also on display and wont go off.l

failure of the aperture unit is the usual cause - usually the contacts for the phase switch have come loose from the gear. You can find info on this by searching for the problem on the internet, including how to repair it.

'err' sign on display nikkon D80, and appear r 15 when shutter button is press

"rXX" is just the camera estimate of how many pictures left on memory card. As for "ERR": while camera is in "On" position, take out battery and hold shutter button approximately 30 seconds. Turn camera "off, replace battery and turn "On" again. If thre is a hardware reset button (check manual carefully) while camera is "On" use that reset button/

I have a Nikon D80 and one day, I suddenly couldn't take pictures. When I turn my camera on, it automatically blinks the Err message. My shutter mechanics work fine, it recognizes my lenses, and playback...

Had same problems. The shutter is faulty although my D80 only registered about 2,000 shots.

Get it fixed at Nikon Service Center. It's your only option. Cost me $120.

I have a D80 since 2 years and since last 1 week have been getting the 'Err' message. Initially, after referring to the manual & pressing the shutter release button, the camera responded only ONCE. ...

Hi sandeepbhat2, On page 129 of the D80 manual is the factory reset switch. Look on the left side of the camera there is the terminal cover, inside below the USB connector is a small reset button. Give that a try. If still it does not work you should call Nikon.

I have a Nikon D80 camera that is about 1 year old. I has worked fine until about 6 months ago. Sometimes when I turn it on and press the button to take the picture nothing happens. I have to wait awhile...

Are you getting a Err message? If so The ERR message is not a good thing. Read page 132 of the D80 Manual. Also, try a factory reset found on page 129 of the manual. On the left side of the camera is the terminal cover, inside below the USB connector is the reset switch. If that does not work call Nikon digital 1-800-645-6689.

Nikon d80 problem (err flashing with r09 in the lcd display)

I belive this isn't a fault but more to do with how you are using the camera. The r09 message is to do with the camera buffer and how many more pictures it can hold. You do have a memory card installed, right? The r09 is normally not an error, but simply an indicator of how many more pictures you can take in the current burst before the buffer fills. The number will vary according to the image quality and size settings.
