This is a dlp or digital light projection tv. This set uses a bulb. First check the bulb. The bulb can ussally be removed from the set from the back with a screwdriver. do not touch the bulb front. this set does not have a flyback. 90 percent of the time the bulb will shatter when bad.

51MP392H/17 Makes Zapping sound on power up. No picture or sound. Has been reset/unplugged. When powering up makes a sound like a bug zapper for about 1/2 second. Power light stays on and I can hear the tv...

The Zapping sound you are referring to is most likely due to arcing of the flyback(high voltage transformer). It is strongly recommended that you do not turn on the tv and have a tech test the flyback and replace it. The FBT generates voltages of about 30000V and should not be handled by someone who has not worked on high voltage electronics before.

My TV

the old ticking sound... yes.. it means your power supply shut down and continously trys to reboot ... hense the tick sound as the voltage rises and fails.

Means you got a short somewhere. Most likely the obvious high power consuming High Voltage Suppy... and as I found in 99.9 percent the Horizontal power Transistor shorted... 80 percent Flyback, 10 percent audio... 10 percent some odd circuits like vertical or yoke as shorted.

you have a short.

Tv wont come on

Most times when you hear this kind of sound on a TV it is because the flyback transformer is bad (from what I can remember anyway!). Its been a while since I repaired TV's, so hopefully someone can verify my info. The flyback transformer steps up the voltage very high which powers the color tubes. If that is bad, you will get the thunk sound. Also, if memory serves me well, there is a high power output chip that could be bad as well. Please, anyone who knows TV's, please verify for me. It has been years for me!

TV picture doesn't work

That sounds to me like a flyback transformer went bad. I just had this issue because the ceramic coating on my flyback cracked and caused it to arc off. I got a new one delivered for 31.90 and soldered it in and viola! Perfect 32" tv once again.

you may have cracked the circuit board when moving , sounds like a bad vertical circuit. look for bad connections around vertical ic or flyback transformer

56" RCA projection TV (FLYBACK related problem)

the base to emitter of the hot will read short on a diode checker/test on ohms it vairies but typically about 50 ohms.e to c, or b to c should have very high resistance. unsolder the collector of the hot. make sure all solder is gone. now test the ohm between your tuner ground & the pad of the hot collector it should read open.

Tv showing blue screen with flyback lines sound ok

Flyback lines? Is the picture all white with no brightness control with faint horizontal faint lines? If this is what you are saying, the screen voltage could be bad, and if thats the case, the picture tube or the flyback itself could be bad. You could also have a bad connection on the crt socket
