Hi
The machine will not froth milk, and will not produce hot water. Regular espresso making is fine. Have tried multiple descaling and cleaning of both the machine and the milk jug with no improvement.
I understand that the solution was to have the rubber rings on the hot water outlet replaced - but all is rings are complete (green, black and red).
What can I try ?

Here's what I did... with great success:
If you've cleaned all the milk deposits from around the o rings and you still have a problem then its almost certainly the milk spout (the little pipe that directs foamy milk into your cup)
Detatch the spout and get a 2.5 mm drill bit and use it to clean all the milk deposits out of the part that plugs into the lid. Rinse through with water to clean away all the bits of hard milk.
[If you put water through the spout before and after, you will notice a dramatic difference]
Doing this completely fixed the problem for me (I had about 3 years of milk build up in mine!).
If, when you press hot water, the machine says "Heating Up" or "Please Wait" for a moment then returns to "Ready" every time then the horseshoe (steam boiler) is cold. Open the machine and check. Test the thermal fuses (TCOs) on the horseshoe, one will probably be open circuit.
If a TCO (Thermal CutOut, the white ceramic blocks on the horseshoe) is
blown, the horseshoe (steam boiler) control triac (usually BTA24-600BW)
on the main board is probably breaking down under voltage stress. You will need to
replace the main board (or just the triac if you are confident, can
upgrade to a BTA24-800) as well as any TCOs that blew. The normal
symptom for this is the machine remains in the "Heating Up" state
indefinitely, often after having reported "General Alarm" during the
event.
The "General Alarm" followed by persistent "Heating Up..." Message described my ESAM5500 Perfecta problem. Would just replacing the Generator (Hourseshoe steam gen with orange cyclinder thing) fix the problem?
Fixed my problem by replacing the other heating element. The fuses were fine, but the element was open circuit. Swapped it out and all works fine (for now)!

I had this problem once... It turns out the electrical connection for the solenoid valve that feeds the hot water out into the milk jug/hot water tap had come loose. They are clipped on rather than being soldered into place. Trace the wires back to the main board from the solenoid (brass bit with grommets) and check that the clips are in place.

hi, I've got a new Delonghi EAM 4500 (same as EAM 3500) and noticed, that the machine does not do a lot of frothing (comparing to my friend's machine). Can you help me? is anything I could do to maximise the frothing ability of this machine?
I have a very similar problem - lots of steam comes through to cup - but with no milk! All items cleaned through and all rubber O rings in place; the machine is 2yrs old. DeLonghi service have been phoned (0845 600 6845) and they suggested a new jug top before worth calling engineer out. Have ordered one, unfortunately not in stock for >3weeks, so now sat waiting....... Service telephone staff have reference to an engineer for advice, to be relayed back to customer (why can't I talk to the engineer directly I wonder?), anyway apparently he suggested a new jug top should definitely improve performance, but if the problem still persisted it was probably due to congealed milk within the machine which would require a service visit.
I have a very similar problem with my EAM3500S. Tons of steam comes out of the frothing jug, but no milk is ever dispensed. I have called delonghi and they advised replacing the rubber rings, which we did. They don't think a milk container lid will fix the problem and have advised sending the unit into service which means shipping it out of state. Has anyone actually discovered what is causing this problem? did you new milk lid fix it?
delonghi EAM 3500 will not make hot water or froth milk. makes coffee just fine.
how many o rings should the eam 3500 have on the milk plug on the machine side before i push the jug in.at the moment its a green o ring on the short one and 2 on the lower, a black one and a red one
