Authorized sony repair center told me the problem was the Q Box. Ever heard of this? Part runs about 300 bucks. TV is out of warrenty as it is 2 years old. Do you think it is worth it to fight sony and get them to replace the part or just fix the TV?

Part Number is A1167541A, service rep called it a Q Box in the diag, however the web says its the b block assmy.

read this if you think it's the same problem

SOURCE: Sony 36 Wega XBR Flat Screen - sudden death.

This could be a scan amplifier failure, and there is a loss of high voltage to the CRT. Part of the power supply may have also failed. In these sets, if the CRT emission goes low in emission, or the CRT goes defective, the bias supply to the CRT will go in to protect.

An experienced TV service tech can troubleshoot the set and give you an estimate for service. Considering the age of the set, the cost of service may not be worth it.

SOURCE: Sony FD Trinitron Wega Model

Hello,

The 2X blink indicates that either the Horizontal output transistor is shorted, or the RGB amp is shorted (on the CV board).

The Horizontal output is probably the cause, and as a general rule, the flyback should be replaced along with the H-Out transistor. Good news is that Sony is pretty good about having parts in stock. In fact, a lot of times they will have the A board with all the parts on it for only a few bucks more than just the flyback, so you basically get a new TV (electronics-wise).

Any decent repair shop should help get the parts/do the repair for you if you don't have the electronic experience.

Hope this helps you...

Altec Lansing MX6021 Expressionist ULTRA 2.1

The "pluc pluc pluc" noise you're hearing from your Altec Lansing MX6021 Expressionist ULTRA 2.1 speakers could be a sign of a few different issues. Here are a few things you can try:
  1. Check the cables: Make sure all cables are connected properly and there are no loose connections. Try using a different cable to see if that solves the problem.
  2. Check the power supply: Ensure that the power supply is plugged in and working properly. Try using a different power outlet or power supply to see if that solves the problem.
  3. Check the volume: Make sure that the volume on your device is turned up and the speakers are not on mute.
  4. Try a different device: Connect the speakers to a different device to see if the issue is with your laptop or the speakers.
  5. Check for software updates: Visit the Altec Lansing website to see if there are any software updates or firmware updates available for your speakers.
If none of these solutions work, it may be time to consider contacting Altec Lansing customer support or a professional audio technician for further assistance.

How can my laptop charger fit to computer speaker?

Please do not modify your laptop charger to power your speakers. The laptop charger probably has too high a voltage and amperage output. (USB chargers don't provide a large enough output.) The Altec Lansing ACS40 speakers need a 15V 900 mA power transformer; the coaxial power connector has the positive voltage on the center pin. The model number on the transformer is 4815090R3CT . This is available through Amazon.com and other vendors. One vendor is http://www.emtcompany.com/altec-lansing-4815090r3cac-power-supply-charger-adapter/1010666.html .

I hope this helps.
