Lanier 1674 Copier: Message shows paper misfeed. However, there is no paper misfeed anywhere on or in the copier. I have checked for pieces of paper lodged in one of the feeds, but none have been found. All parts appear to be moving. Paper will feed up to some point and then the error appears. Any suggestions out there. Please help if you can.
When you close the doors does the message disappear? If so then the paper pickup roller is worn. Open the cassette remove all paper apart from one sheet. Spray a alcohol based cleaned on the leading edge of the paper. Try and do a copy this will issue a jam and also clean the pickup roller. repeat a few times then clean out the cassette and dry off place new paper in the cassette and try. Also there maybe a piece of paper behind the cassette. Remove cassette and reach in and remove paper lodged at back.
Thanks Jason
Does the paper get stuck at the long black roller? If so then you will probably need a registration clutch. Does the paper get stuck at the hot fuser section and the paper in set like a fan crinkled up? If so then open the top door and wipe clean the plastic fingers touching the hot roller. Be careful as this roller is very hot and can hurt you.
The Doc feeder has no reference to your jams as the copy paper gets jammed not the original.
Thanks Jason

I had the problem of the pickup roller not picking up sometimes, and your help did fix the problem thus far. Thank you, thank you. However, the paper stops halfway through the copying process. I have cleaned and cleaned and have not found any paper or small pieces of paper lodged anywhere and mechanically everything else seems to be working great.
I have a legal size cassette and letter size cassette on bottom of the copier, media feed from the side, and a top feeder. None of them work. The two bottom cassettes get stuck halfway throught the process as does the media feeder. The top feeder gets stuck immediately.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Are you speaking of the long black roller in front of the white cleaning blade? If so, that is where the paper gets stuck. The paper is not crumpled; it stays in perferct form. I hope that is all that is wrong with it.
Additionally, I get a paper jam trying to load from top, from the bottom trays and the side media section loader.
Could your recommeded fix solve all these problems?
Is there a way to test the clutches for proper working order before I purchase one. They are $75.00 each.
